I think Bill Gates and Steve Jobs should be proud of the innovation they ushered with early Windows and the iPhone specifically. Decades later, we just have copycats that stole aspects from them that make them so good with Linux and Android respectively

I think so, it has never been more profitable and he still owns a comfy chunk of the company. Say what you will but focusing on selling cloud services kept the company relevant.

Fun fact: After becoming friends with Warren Buffett, he heeded Buffett's advice to diversify his wealth. Had he not listened to Buffett and primarily retained Microsoft stocks, he would have been the world's first trillionaire.

the point of diversifying your wealth is not necessarily to get richer. it's more a safe net, in case one of your investment fails, the rest doesn't suffer and you don't lose all your money. having all your eggs in the same basket is never a good solution.
