fucking lol
They should've stuck to that "the bongs can't fine us because we don't operate a company there" case since that one was plausible.

They're suing them in a US court.
Even though the US operates entirely within the US with no assets in the UK, Ofcom has been harassing them (and other US based sites) with threats of fines.
The lawsuit is to draw in the US government and make it tell Ofcom to fuck off
>>106408285
Of course not, that would be compelling and lead to it going in their favor. To continue the grift you have to always appear vulnerable and on the defensive, so just shout the most retarded, soapboxy argument that makes you look cool but has no legal basis besides "FUCK YEAH, MURICA, FUCK THE ANGLOS" so when the case gets thrown out you can beg for more money because da joooooz are sending you ignorable TV license letters.

That’s not entirely correct and what they did is going to ruined everything for everyone. We used to have servers on location and people connected to them, thus the age of lag became an everyday occurrence. After cheaper servers and better services, there is no one server on a location because it’s now everywhere.
These stupid lawyers should have told 4chan to sue UK for breaking 4chan Terms of Service that specifically list where they agreed to follow the law. The UK government has failed in following the law.

You're right, but Ofcom is still making official threats of fines and imprisonment towards US businesses that operate in the US and are complying with US law.
These threats and fines are illegal as they have no jurisdiction to police Americans within the US, hence the lawsuit. The lawsuit does not include international organizations that do operate or hold assets within the UK, which are within their jurisdiction.

I'm seriously expecting for OFCOM to attack international assets like servers of social media companies that refuse to comply with them.
The massive fines would be a way for the UK government to seize any server outside the US in a country willing to go along with this shit.
For example, KF used to have a lot of their servers in the EU and an UK judgement from huge OFCOM fines could easily take all of the equipment.
I really think this is the plan by bongs.

Pretty much this. The point was to 'protect children' and the blocking of sites is a last resort. They're honor bound to continue to pretend it's not about censorship so taking the act of blocking otherwise legal sites to adults means it's not about children at all, which is what they want to avoid. That said, they do have the powers to do so in the act. They also have powers to go after payment providers and other associates- for example sure you can use a VPN to access 4chan still, but no payment provider would be allowed to send funds to 4chan for a pass. Coinbase included.

This is basically just a matter of time until this starts happening with the way things are going. Any entity that is at risk of this happening to them should start moving assets into Monero as a safeguard.

if a bank touch's a us citizen's assets without a court order from a us judge, or they debank or otherwise deny services to a us citizen without a us court order, they're guilty of civil rights violations, simple as

No you retard. If you do business in the UK, or any other country, you have to comply with their laws. When it comes to the internet it doesn't matter where your servers technically are. If you're serving UK customers you have to comply with UK laws. Same with the US, and every single other country. Before online gambling was legal in the US you couldn't just set up a gambling site with all the infrastructure out of the US and serve US customers. Or well you could and people did it but it's still illegal according to US law and got you in trouble in the US.
UK can issue fines and arrest warrants to 4chan owners. And the moment they step into a country that will extradite to the UK they'll be taken into custody and sent to UK.

The EU only exists since 1993 (Maastricht Treaty).
And in its current form it only exists since 2009 (Lisbon Treaty).
Ever since the EU exists, Europe is on a downwards spiral. In the 80s, Western Europe accounted for a third of the global economy. The much much larger EU nowadays, barely manages 15%.
Basically, the EU turned Europe into some deindustrialized shitskin hellhole that leeches off others. And the main reason for this was the horrid decision to add butthurt belters in 2004.

The web was invented in Europe.
>>106410263
You say that because you're American. There is lots of innovation in Europe. All the chips you use were made using ASML machines for example. The US makes software, SaaS, and design stuff but not much else. And most of the work in the US is done by Chinese and Indians workers.
>>106410201
>>106410236
You can host things on Hetzner, which is a Germany company, using open source software. Europeans should certainly do that. The US doesn't produce anything though. All the chips are made by Asian companies using European machines (ASML) and all the tech workers in the US are Chinese and Indian.

I agree that you shouldn't use AWS or Google Cloud. It's overpriced and overly complex (by design). Use your own servers and use open source tools. I don't hate Americans and I wish Americans well even though Americans hate everyone who isn't American, but you shouldn't trust Americans too much.

No, it got done to a Russian jabber server (note: the Western friendly liberal puppets!) and Telegram.
Remember that Telegram was about to be hosted in Germany and become an European company?
Hetzner is also the absolute leader in DDoS attacks world wide, was the top of the chart for over a year. Then eventually German Drei-K-Tech-GmbH took the crown, after everybody blocked the Hetzner ASN.
Which is again a problem if you want to host there, because you are more likely to get blocked by anti-ddos measures whenever the German authorities launch another DDoS attack on something.

And those people only noticed because it were western-friendly Russians who feared to be censored by Moscow, just to discover that Germans are spying on them. How many people will host on Hetzner and never check for that ever? Did you ever check if the certificate you get on the client is actually the one from the server?

It's more an issue of how the provider deals with abuse reports. The smaller the provider is, the more likely they are to kick you off if a report comes in.
Or if said provider is running DDoS attacks for their government. Since Hetzer does MitM for the German government, why wouldn't they be used to run attacks for them as well?
Or should we believe that the government, that is known world wide for its internet censorship approach, is super innocent and would never do that?

Supposed they try to block all ranges in the UK. Is that even enough to stop it, assuming it's completely effective? What about people from there accessing it through other methods, is there some minimal effort to prevent it all that's required? I could see some law saying it's not enough, that every person that visits the site has to have an id checked to make sure no citizen of that country can bypass it through a vpn or someone being physically in some other part of the world. If you accept that's possible and something to care about, then what if some other country does the same, and it's not physically possible to comply with both?

-A The site operates where the servers are located, in which case UK has no say in the matter
-B We consider the internet/the cloud as its own place aside from all the countries and sites are not considered to operate anywhere. In which case the UK has no say in the matter.
We should go with B IMO but even with A UK's spergout doesn't make any sense

While true in some cases, the prosecution would have to prove in court either active personal misconduct (Not by negligence) on behalf of any and all of the persons involved (which is outside the scope of the case as they are not named in the case to begin with) or piercing the corporate veil, making them liable by default to the debts and legal liabilities of the LLC.

And they’re still fucking harassing me as recently as a few days ago for “more information”. They even dug around to find out where I live so that they can show my home address in the emails to threaten me. The only other entity that’s ever done that to us was Meta.

It’s pretty simple: while it’s obvious that ofcom has no legal rights to demand an American company do anything, a court has not actually said as much so this is basically forcing them to make a precedent that bongniggers have to fuck off and they can cope about it on cuck island if they don’t like that

It's not about preventing access for adults; it's about shilling ID services that harvest your data before allowing you to visit the sites. 4chan is in trouble because it hasn't implemented any of those ID services. The services are profitable for the major pornography companies, who, coincidentally, actually lobbied FOR the Online Safety Act to be passed.

They can't fine 4chan unless one of the 4chan bosses (so, Hiro, effectively) comes to the UK. If Hiro never comes to the UK, he'll be fine. Ofcom are betting that the stress and hardship of knowing he could be arrested if he comes here will be enough to make him pay the fine.

Your average fox news watching republican sees 4chan as a dangerous website. They think it must therefore be left wing, because all evil things are left wing.
KF is a doxxing website first and foremost, hence republicans think it's scary too. The fact that they preferentially dox trannies does not feature in such people's minds.
