Why do wallstreet boomers think that scaling LLMs will create AGI?

Well you might not know this but you aren't actually alive, you are made of things that don't live.

We almost have good enough AI that we can automate 99% of industrial processes.
We just need robots to become more widespread and to put more focus on multimodal models with an emphasis on controlling robots and merging models with multiple levels of reaction time (fast and slow thinking).
You see an LLM and see a chatbot. I see an LLM and see a way to automate anything.

We need to scale down not scale up. We need claude-tier LLM in our pocket

Automate what exactly, the market is already oversaturated with enough junk that isn't selling, productivity isn't an issue that needs solving tard

We need a "Nintendo" in the LLM race.

If you gave an LLM a way to train itself, couldn't it? Give it a way to learn and to learn to learn more efficiently along with internet access and sensory inputs of some kind, and it could become alive over time. How do we know this isn't already happening somewhere?
