The iPhone is set to take over especially once google locks its operating system and apple can't lock theirs due to laws that were passed against them in the EU. Help me, phonechads.

I'm getting rid of some old Android phones. Two stopped working, one still works but if I'm getting rid of those I might as well do this at the same time.
Two were Android 7.1.1. But they were updated from 5.something out of the box. One was a chinkphone on 10.something.

I think the data was encrypted. But not 100% sure. I think by Android 10 surely the system was encrypted by default, right? But as for the 7.1.1 phones, because they were original 5.something, I'm not sure if they were. My and my dad's old phones.

I will of course remove the batteries and get them recycled elsewhere (none are swollen thankfully).
But as for the rest of the phones, I'm wondering if I need to take them apart and drill the NAND or not.

Let's say they were unencrypted. Is it possible for someone to take data off the nand? Or is it still impossible because something about it, even if unencrypted, ties the access to the nand data to that specific hardware, like that chipset etc etc, and it won't load if someone isolates the nand chip?

The best American phone would be the iPhone base model 15 & 16 since they outsell every android yearly.
