Windows 11
Is it possible to use this piece of shit, without basically live streaming the contents of your hard drives to "them" and having all your actions on the internet archived?

I mean like some anti-spyware software or something?

I have looked into O&O ShutUp10++ and it seems decent(ish). Is there anything better out there?

Inb4: use Linux. I did for months ... and I just fucking can't anymore. It's always something with Linux. It's just a matter of time before you have to fix some basic shit which would never even be a problem on Windows.

ext4 or btrfs won't save you either.
Although that bug report is for ZFS on the same SSD as the Windows article (WD SN770), the faults described in the Linux bug report look like would also happen with ext4 or btrfs.

So I searched for reported problems with SN770 and ext4, and found enough results to convince me.

That particular SSD fails with Linux and ext4 too.

Those kinds of scripts are either placebo, or only kind of work for a little while, or actually harmful. At the end of the day if you use Windows you're going to have to take at least a few inches of Microsoft's cock up your ass. Your best bet is probably network filtering like adguard blocking Microsoft's telemetry and ad domains.

OP here. I used Linux Mint, Fedora, Nobara and Manjaro so far. Fairly certain that using another distro is not the answer. No matter what distro I use, eventually I will run into some problem which I can't fix or find a solution for and then it's down to "can I live without [thing that doesn't work]".

You can't, m8. I'm not a Linux shill, I don't like it either and would rather Microsoft just made a normal OS like Windows 7 again but I've reluctantly made the switch now and won't go back. The short answer is "No."

The longer answer is "You can fuck around with the OS and fight it and try to uninstall the AI bullshit and disable Recall, but in the end, it's closed source and Microsoft push out updates that you can't prevent from installing automatically, so... No."

Try Mint Cinnamon.

Over the past 20 years, I tried Linux well over a dozen times (including several attempts at Mint), never managing to last longer than a week, as my daily driver, before going back. Somehow, though, I've managed to stay on it for over 3 weeks this time; everything seem to be working a lot better than in the past.

It does require a bit of tinkering here and there, initially though. It's not the straight swap for Windows normies some people shill it as.

I wouldn't trust Windows Home/Pro to be private or reliable, they're testbeds for businesses. If you *have* to use Windows 11, grab yourself the Enterprise build if you must use GAC features, or if you are fine with LTSC go for Ent LTSC or IoT LTSC depending on your needs. For me? It's

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 + Offline Install + EEA Region + Local Account + HWID MAS Activation + Simplewall + Group Policy Tweaks + Task Scheduler Tweaks from fwt

Just doing this and running a proper browser like Brave or Firefox+uBO with DNS over HTTPS, Proton VPN, DuckDuckGo Search or Brave Search, and a self-hosted or encrypted email makes you more private and secure than 99% of linux users that run meme linux forks and download random rices, scripts, and programs from the internet.

Nta, but Mint and all other Ubuntu/Debian variants have so many users and so much information online you can just :google' your problem and get the solution in minutes. It's the same thing you do in windows. If it doesnt work, reinstall the program or OS, again, same as on windows. Steam was borked for me on fedora, reinstalled steam, bam.

The only problems that you cant fix or are "too dumb" to fix are the ones where you are the problem, like getting some exotic hardware to work on a distro that isnt arch where the only other user of that specific thing made the drivers available. Or trying to run some retard game with malware style anticheat like fartkike or Faglorant. 99.9% of all steam games work asode from those.
