So like, solar powered? You know they wont stream 24/7 and if you try viewing them they'll stop after like, 30 seconds, right?

Running ethernet cable is stupid easy and i know this isnt what you asked but I use Anpviz cameras. They are very cheap. I have two bullet cameras and two Pan/Tilt cameras. They are also compatible with Hikvision SDK. Personally, I control mine with python via requests sending xml payloads

Opensource firmware is going to be difficult, ei impossible, to find
>wireless
Why even have a security camera at this point? Run some Cat6 like a real nerd and closed circuit your cameras.

Anyways, amcrest is cheap and works with Linux and opensource NVR setups

>You do realize there has to be a cable
There doesn't HAVE to be, but it's recommended.

Wireless cameras are unreliable and susceptible to wireless interference or even jamming.
Anonymous No.106475021
Anyone who has the effort to do wireless jamming or interference on your camera isn't going to be deterred by a wired one either. Wireless ones are fine for most purposes, but the main problem is you're going to need to wire them to power them anyway

No cable, keke. I guess you could plug a battery into it and replace the battery every few days, but that would be retarded

Do you want something that works properly or do you want an overpriced shitberry pie toy?
Pick up used old Sony ones for cheap locally if you want cheap, not chink spyware, and not too shit.

Also wireless cameras are dogshit toys, use PoE.

if it takes a power cable, is it really "wireless" then?

You can get ones with large batteries and large solar panels that can do 24+ hours on battery alone and can charge the battery to full in less than half a day's worth of sunlight

Most phones won't power on without a battery. I've gone down this rabbit hole already, it's a massive pain in the ass tricking phones into thinking they have batteries instead of DC power.

From everything I gather, there are useless and suffer from horrible droupouts. Plus you need to power it somehow, so why not do data/power at once with PoE?
>and compatible to Linux system.
I noticed that a lot of guys run Windows for this with Blue Iris being the most popular program. I am also interested in this, as my 'nice' is seeing some effects from nearby 'enrichment'.

Also I'm currently looking at some of the higher quality Chinese brands, but will put them on their own subnet. A) No contention on my main router B) No possibility of phoning home or being exploited.

I run frigateNVR on openmediavault (retarded debian fork) with POE Amcrest cameras. They don't have permissions to do anything but talk to the NVR and have confirmed via local dns server that they aren't trying to connect to anything.

I haven’t found a good reason to choose an NVR over a PoE switch + PC (dual nic), but I have only just began my research.

Do any of you have recommendations for good night vision cameras? Since my enemies actually aren’t the ones that glow, the opposite really.
Anonymous No.106476698 >>106476727 >>106477591

I mean for the NVR shit it's really just a tool that enables me to vpn into my network and access all the cameras at the same time, record and tag events that happen, and 'attempt' to identify what's in frame with ai recognition, without building those tools myself. The NVR is jsut a bundle of tools for monitoring the camera feeds.

I have four cameras, one is an 8MP Amcrest bullet camera, and the other three are 5MP amcrest turrets. I ordered them all from Bezo's Bazaar. The 'nightvision' is good enough. Pic related
