I doubt the new cells + time and risk for doing this are that much of a saving over just buying chink batteries

You're supposed to upgrade to an IPS screen. Also, the tablet PCs all have IPS displays by default.

I've done this before, but it seems impossible to open up these batteries without ravaging the plastic enclosure.

there's pic that needs reprogramming, it's not just throwing fresh cells inside.

It's impossible to open the batteries in such a way as to be able to put them back together once you're done. I just tear them open and remove the cells. I throw away the damaged ones, and keep the good ones around. They are 18650s so I put them in my flashlights.
I just order another chink laptop battery for 20€ or something.

>she doesn't buy old laptop batteries by the pallet
>she doesn't shuck the enclosures and test for good cells to make a 40kwh whole house battery
>she doesn't wire points of entry with bad cells and keep a clacker in her sock at all times
Nice hobby though
