Now that they learned their lesson that working for free nearly ended in getting stuff taken away from you, they'll probably close source their development like with android

The Google payment of $20 annually to Apple is the most blatantly anti-competetive shit. How can mobile phones be a healthy competitive market when the 2 companies are that intertwined. Google would rather make a worse phone than piss off Apple if their business is worth that much.

That's what anticompetitive mean. That's just called selling to the highest bidder, that happens everywhere in advertising. Anticompetitive is when Google bars everyone else from being their default engine, which you can change in the settings by the way

Google close sourcing chromium entirely would be a huge benefit for the browser market at this point. That's why they won't.

Feds overstepped when trying to assert that they had to diverge Chrome entirely. It was a retarded demand and went too far.

The case was originally brought by the DoJ over Google have a "monopoly" as the "default" search for browsers and so forth. They then got cocky and tied to overstep this by going as far as claiming Google should diverge Chrome entirely (and even Android lmao). The recent ruling basically is just telling the DoJ to stop being fucking retards and focus on the original intent which was banning Google from being bundled into every browser as the default search engine.
