The AI always seems to have major issues with temporal spacing and consequences of events.
Let's made a lewd example, intercourse ended with based creampie.
The next outputs, even going forward in-rp days, weeks or months will always mention some "lingering coom inside her from the last night" or things like that.

Or, some duel happened, wounds were exchanged, and once again no matter how much time passes the AI will sometime reminds of the "still bloody gash" on user thigh or some shit like that.

Is it just a general issue with all models as things are? Are there ways to correct this?

It's best to do LLM RP on the basis of "scenes", similar to real RP. You want to do a sequence of events that can be neatly packaged, then summarize and write a new greeting or leave the last few messages if you want to do longer story arcs. LLMs are not good at handling lots of details in context for any use cases except translation and summarizing.

Yeah that's your problem for starters. It's really only gemini that's good at processing that much info at once and even then you're better off with 60k. Most models break around 32k so you should be using that as your max context and either summarizing, or moving the plot along fast enough that info which happened 32k tokens ago is no longer relevant. The chinese models are particularly bad at remembering events correctly even at 32k so you'd want to go lower. If you have problems at very low context, like I did when I was testing deepseek v3 0324, then it's a model issue and you should switch to something else like sonnet.

It's important for everyone but it just doesn't work at 160k and you're doing more harm than good for your roleplay. It only really remembers info at the very beginning or very end of the context and stuff in the middle is lost. I wish I had saved that memory pic but even sonnet doesn't remember details correctly above 30k. It gets info correct like 60% of the time and it gets worse and worse as the context goes up. Gemini is like 90%.
