Anonymous No.106489908 >>106489961

Speaking of, like half of the features that make the AR15 good or unique were invented in Canada to winterize it. The foward assist and brass deflector were originally modifications for the C7A1, basically "what if the AR15/M16 didn't suck and melt anywhere that isn't an average clear day in Ohio" and the C7A2 was the first military AR variant to come with ambidextrous controls by default.

Also giving everyone scopes and machine guns is a distinctly Canadian doctrine. We basically invented the modern small unit tactical meta in WWII by having standard fire teams be intended to be highly mobile and basically every single one having at least one LMG with them, and ponied up to issue 2x scopes as standard in Bosnia.

when nortel imploded due to rampant stock fraud like half of them went to cisco

canada was also one of the first nations to get widespread fibre optic installed -- everyone knows Corning now for IT infra stuff but they only got into that industry after getting paid by nortel to start making glass wire instead of drinkware and windows

We don't like wars, we don't like spending money on the military, we fuck up regularly due to being under-prepared.
But we also, perhaps deliberately even, don't pay attention to what the boys are doing over there. They get away with a lot, and always have.

that image is of the MiG-29 Foxbat, which is visually similar to the Avro Arrow. The "official" reason for the Arrow program's cancellation (and Avro's subsequent total financial death) is due to compromise by Russia. Some say that the Foxbat is in fact the result of Russian spying on Avro, but in fact the inner workings of the Foxbat are incredibly different from the Arrow, and their profile is merely a product of the styling of the time. The need for both companies (Avro and MiG) to create a high-speed interceptor of that general shape were motivated largely by the same desires, namely to patrol the Arctic and potentially carry (but more likely defend from) tactical nuclear weapons to be launched over the north pole.
