How do these things even work? Is there a small invisible fan hidden inside?
Anonymous No.106490292 >>106490316
there's a shitty normal fan at the base which gets funneled and jetted out of the side "fins" to push more air through fluid induction
shit's gay and expensive with usecases only being for retarded kids and tiny aviating pets

There is a fan in the base which sucks in air and causes it to exhaust around the ring.
That moving air drags more air through the ring.

I can't wait until we get true bladeless ion thruster fans

Damn. I remember when these things first started showing up in the early 2010s I first believed they were actually bladeless and used some kind of ion thrusting tech, and it was one of those things that made me feel like I was living in the future
Learning that they actually have a hidden normal fan at the bottom shattered my illusions. It also sounds extremely innefective over a regular desk fan

I own a dyson tower fan like that. Bought one very early on and it's still going. The fan is in the base which is why there's vent holes down there. It sucks air in at the base, pushes it out through the top fins.

Define a desk fan. It works very well. I usually keep it at 1-4 speed which is good enough. 10 speed is basically a jet engine next to you. Sometimes when I want to dry my hair quickly i'll throw it up to 7-8 and it's basically like a cold hair dryer.
My only complaint is it's quite easy to kick over. I'm surprised mine still works ass I've punted that sucker multiple times down during the night and shit.

Do you know how air multiplication works?

Bernouli's principle

Get a large thin supermarket plastic bag, seal it around your mouth, blow. See how little it inflates. Hold the bag about 10cm away from your mouth and gentle blow into it, see how much easier it is to inflate.

A regular fan behaves like the former, the Dyson like the latter. It moves a larger volume of air for its size than a regular fan.

This is your brain on UM ACKSHEWALLY reddit
The dyson fans have been objectively measured by numerous third parties. CFM does not increase over other fans, in fact they are often worse to a small degree, undoubtedly from losses in rerouting the airflow before it actually exits the fins.
Theory is meaningless when it fails to conform to reality, because this fan is not making use of bernouli's principle at all, no more so than literally any other fan. You're both huge gay retards.

Funny how the Shark bladeless fan pushes the highest CFM while being more compact :) science wins again

Citing manufacturer spec CFM instead of measured and not actually measuring at ISO power means this is just advertising
and I doubt you're actually this stupid, just being willfully deceitful

The project farm guy on yt made one of his comparison videos and these didn't rank well at all. Literally lost to a cheapo $40 fan you can get at any big box store. Noisier than a regular fan too. They're basically huge scams, the Apple of the air blowing devices world but somehow worse because their products are actually significantly worse and massively overpriced

I don't know, that is why I asked. The term "aviating pets" suggest they are airborne. Birds can be weird.
