I think that the concept of programs occupying an entire distinct workspace instead of being in a window, like they have been for 25 years, is more contrarian desu.

This. We KDE users don't care about the constant crashing. If the session dies, begin a new one. If you encounter a bug, you can either passively let that bug get in your way, or you can make it SERVE you as a reminder of the fragility of software, especially in toda -

I can't use the desktop the way how GNOME dictates it with their paradigm. It just feels like a downgrade in human-machine interaction, if you come from Windows or most others WMs.
>inb4 just install these [.. extension names] or use this [shell wrapper] and you villl bee happy!
I refuse. Because GNOME clearly wants you to interact with your desktop in a very specific ways. Extensions there are not designed for the daily driving and drastic changes, but for prototyping of new functionality. They will break.

Gnome is shit but hating it is still contrarianism, because on Linux there's nothing better.

Gnome is good except it's very limited in customization but you can make it look amazing using tweaks and themes. It doesn't have the instability that KDE does. But the problem is they are all woke n****r worshipers high on sniffing their own farts.

Newcomers won't go wrong with a Gnome distro.

I don't get the hype, like just don't play poorly optimized games or something and everything else that's actually worth playing will run just fine on decades old hardware. Also ray tracing is over rated.

Until you notice that its top bar is just a clone of the Apple top bar but with the application menu removed
They literally just stole a well known UI element and deliberately made it worse and less useful

True.
Looks best in distros that leave Gnome alone with its intended defaults (Fedora) compared to distros that apply their own patches to Gnome (Ubuntu).

nah senpai
They are by far the worst DE, an ungodly mix of Mac OS and phone UI. Bloated AF to. Worst of all they are treated like the default of Linux. And on top of everything they are run like a fucking cult. The only reason we are so vocal about them is we can speak our mind with out getting black listed by the GNOME cult.
