Yolks on jew, 1080 Ti is still plenty for every game on the planet worth playing - even with its launch driver.
All this "driver" updooting is copium, Your shit either works, or it does not. If it does not, it's the dev's fault. If the devs are absolutely fucking retarded and NVIDIA can step in to fix one of their mistakes, you might see your FPS double.

Under no circumstance is a driver update ever mandatory. It's basically workaround after workaround after workaround, proper games run fine with drivers literally and I mean literally a decade old. There's never a valid reason to upgrade your graphics drivers, I'm not saying there's never a practical reason, but if your shit works you'll never need a new one. This shit doesn't rot over time. Only shit devs can fuck things up.

Stop playing AAA games with hundred million dollar budgets that can't even abide by standards and work on functioning graphics cards without a copium patch.

1080 Ti is plenty good and will remain so for the next 20 years easy.

>NJUDEA: DLSS FRAME GEN DLDLSS UPSCALE FXAA TAA AI AI AI AI!!! why do you want lower FPS? Buy a 5090, no you can't have PhysX.
>Consumer: I want my game to look how it did 10 years ago, why did you take that away from me?
>NJUDEA: SHUT THE FUCK UP WHY DO YOU HATE CHANGE??????
It's actually hilarious at this point.

Remember kids, anything not standard is never going to last.
NVIDIA shit might be shilled hard and full of proprietary tech that makes AMD seem like it's missing out at times, but none of this proprietary stuff ever lasts. It's always a meme.
Havok was always better than PhysX, Havok games still work on any GPU. Even Intel's GPUs for fucks sake. When NVIDIA takes their PhysX shit away, you have no recourse. Avoid games that bow to NVIDIA and implement shitty proprietary solutions instead of time-tested methods.

PhysX wasn't removed you dunce. The problem is that 32-bit CUDA dependencies were removed from Blackwell and onwards. It is force to run in CPU only. This was done for the professional scene to force those customer migrate to newer platforms. There's nothing stopping Nvidia or somebody to create a translation layer from legacy stuff if it matters that much.
In practice this impacts almost nobody. Nobody gives a shit about almost 20 year old content not running as fast it "could".
>>106509381
Sweetie, they haven't been the baseline for some time. PS5/XSX already moved that goalpost. Their successors will have platform that will require more VRAM capacity (16GiB minimal )and mandatory mesh rendering and meme-tracing. Maxwell/Pascal are completely cooked and are joining their legacy predecessors. It doesn't matter because vast majority of /v/tards will be running something much newer by then.

You're wrong and we all know you're wrong.

>PhysX wasn't removed you dunce.
>It is force to run in CPU only.
This means it was removed.
There has never been a single game where running PhysX on the CPU was viable. NVIDIA went to great lengths to make CPU PhysX unusable in order to make AMD setups look bad, and to try and convince people to buy dedicated PhysX cards just for the feature.
We're so far into the future now and CPUs still can't run PhysX well because it was designed to run off of GPUs.

>almost nobody
Nobody but the 100% of people who might want to run games that used to run with PhysX enabled after they buy a new card but for some reason can't, OY VEY STOP PLAYING OLD GAMES, BUY THE NEW ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY DO YOU HATE CHANGE????????
Only NVIDIA has problems like these due to their proprietary anti-consumer predatory bullshit.

because the 3050 is a much newer card and the 1050 was a mediocre budget card even when it was released? Nobody is pushing the 1050 as a budget or good card in 2025, people are discussing the 1080ti as "still a good or good enough card" despite it being old. Possibly a budget card option if you could find one for $100-150 or something used but at that point just buy a 5050.

It wasn't removed. It is 32-bit CUDA that were never written for Blackwell family because Nviida wants its professional crowd up upgrade and move from 32-bit platforms. It is too bad older implementations of PhysX depends on this and got impacted. There's nothing stopping Nviida or another party to create a translation layer if there is enough fuss about it. In practice, nobody really gives a crap outside of rage-baiting.
All hardware vendors gradually abandon support for legacy platform and it is much more rapid if it doesn't involved enterprise customers a.k.a not silly gaymers.

Nobody cares outside of rage-batting. It is entirely because Nvidia intentionally crippled their CPU-only PhyX implementation. Just to promote sales of their GPUs. Welcome to what the rest of people outside of Nvidia's ecosystem had to ensure.

If you want perpetual support for what the hardware is actually capable of your best bet is unironically an AMD card on linux.

The A in AMD stands for Abandonware, at least as far as radeon is concerned

>There has never been a single game where running PhysX on the CPU was viable. NVIDIA went to great lengths to make CPU PhysX unusable in order to make AMD setups look bad, and to try and convince people to buy dedicated PhysX cards just for the feature.
you'd think they could at least now release a build of the cpu backend that doesn't deliberately use only 8087 instructions to keep performance to a minimum. only thing that would do is be an admission that it was made as slow as possible on purpose, but everyone who cares already knows this anyway

I can still play CP77 on max settings minus memetracing at 1920*1200 just fine with 40-60FPS average. It would tank rarely due to the garbage that is the game. The nvidia boost shit, whatever that does it's even smoother.
