KDE is straight up shit, if I wanted a bloated piece of shit I'd just use Windows. GNOME at least tries to have a personality of it's own and make a digital minimalist mindfulness focused os that doesn't overwhelm you with a billion settings, you can practically go through your entire GNOME setup on a Fedora in like 25 minutes and setup every single setting optimally and rest assured your entire system is working properly, while with KDE you could spend a week exploring it and not finish, same shit as windows. It's somehow even uglier than W11 too and every single app is a bloated piece of shit, like imagine wanting a simple text editor like Notepad or GNOME's Text Editor and you get hit in the face with Kate

I dislike KDE cursor heavily. Cursors are meant to be pointy and sharp. Even Adwaita is not sharp enough for me, although it is better than KDE's
So I just use the default X11 cursor. It is the best option available.

People always say KDE looks better than Gnome, but to me KDE always looks unfinished. There's too much going on. The spacing between items feels like it's from 2009, it's hard to describe. Gnome is no looker, but it looks better than KDE. I use dash-to-panel and desktop icons, though.

also, FOSS still doesn’t work without hierarchy. a project lead has to set the standard and decide the direction of the software. At best they can trust the discretion of a few close individuals who share an understood common interest for what they believe the project should be. FOSS projects that don’t have this centralization and try to rule by committee just end up spinning in place. successful projects also have a select few primary contributors who do the bulk of the work to the extent that the project could just as well have survived without any of the one off contributions in the first place

Almost every project worth something requires a hierarchal organization with milestones and timelines, which often requires compensations of some kind. Having free volunteers randomly contribute to a project without administrative direction often leads to abandonment or years/decades long deliverables that ends up being subpar. The analogy with communism is apt in this regard, as true communism (Paris commune, Israeli kibbutz, etc) eventually failed or introduced some form of capitalist privatization to sustain itself. Lenin himself realized the futility of the whole endeavor and sold vanguardism as a solution, basically any long term socialist nation has always required hierarchy and the subjects to be compensated in some way while never actually achieving the end goal because of how impractical an anarchic/syndicalist society was and free software is in a similar predicament.
