Hello, from /adt/ here again.

I'm continuing the experimenting with 3 character reference pics using Nano Banana. I know its SAAS, but it appears quite useful for preparing datasets.

It could be a good tool for training character clothes Loras, or even for some *creative* and *interesting* Loras, like one for "Ikea furniture assembly Lora" since these 1girl models are not trained to generate slice of life scenes.

I'm a chronic VRamlet, and the most I can do is Neta Lumina like I did yesterday.
But I believe you can achieve the same results with Qwen and Kontext!
I sincerely don't know if Qwen or Kontext has this type of "character referencial sheet" But I have great faith that if Qwen can do it, it would surpass any model because the anime body proportions or aesthetics of Qwen for my test are superior.

Strawman from the Chroma hater schizo, what a shocker

There are benefits and drawbacks with VAE, known since forever

Benefits of VAE that it compresses very well, downsides is that is loses a lot of information in compression. Pixel space loses less detail, but compresses worse, current lodestone experiment is basically to find a optimal pixel space where it compresses well enough while still getting better results in details

So far it is looking very promising, but it needs to improve quite a bit yet

Overall yes, particularly if you need to use offloading since its implementation is MUCH faster than that of any other trainer, Kohya is second fastest

As a comparison, using OneTrainer with offloading and Diffusion-Pipe with offloading, using the same settings, OneTrainer cuts training time by more than 50% compared to Diffusion-Pipe

If you have enough vram to not need offloading, which for Chroma would be ~24gb unless using float8 quantization, then the speeds should be about the same

we are... Especially now that a lot of people have started noticing certain things we are suddenly getting widespread censorship and forced de-anonymization. We're heading for dark times. I suggest everyone to look into mesh networks such as Meshtastic and other forms of encrypted data transfer. The internet may soon truly be dead.
Speaking of Comfy, I'm not done taking the bait. I got wireshark and I'll go ahead and check for myself. Discovering such a thing and not reporting it is obviously retarded and points to suspicious motives but it doesn't matter, at least he motivated me to check for myself.

Hey, so here's what I've found. The main comfyui server seems to ping google servers with about 500 bytes of info via TLSv1.2 and TCP once I connect to it's web interface. Generating an image or doing anything else doesn't seem to generate more outbound traffic.
I haven't checked comfyui-manager since I don't use it and don't particularly care for it. I'm only interested in using comfyui itself (since it's needed for a lot of custom projects involving novel AI models).
The google pings are annoying and *do* suck, but I was expecting it to be worse. Making a stink about this on their github would probably turn their community against us, so it may be wiser to just block the google IP in question and move on. Definitely an important thing to keep in mind, though. As soon as I saw the account screen I knew something was up big time.

I go by the bottom-up approach. I try to achieve what I need with the bare minimum. I didn't have a need to manage multiple comfy installs nor custom nodes. The few custom nodes I used were covered just by cloning their repos into the custom_nodes folder.

You can't "tag" specific programs in wireshark afaik (unless you create a custom network interface and tell the program you're analyzing to use only that interface). I use a relatively quiet linux system so I just turned everything off except comfy and my browser in safe mode. That's how I isolated the traffic. I'm open to suggestions, though.

I was being ironic but besides the point, there was once instance of malware and one instance of ransomware in custom nodes that nearly 80% of the community was affected by because the manager/registry gave the OK for downloading. I'm positive there are more spyware nodes lurking around that nobody reported.

Yes, this is a valid complaint, you can do 99% of the stuff with native nodes, but it is often cumbersome. That said, it's better to learn how to use these nodes so that you can make whatever you want than rely on totally unvetted code from totally untrusted sources, that means it's only a matter of time before you recieve a trojan gift.

comfyui has objectively written more code supporting API nodes than recent local models:
https://github.com/comfyanonymous/ComfyUI/tree/master/comfy_api_nodes
vs
https://github.com/comfyanonymous/ComfyUI/blob/master/comfy/ldm/qwen_image/model.py
https://github.com/comfyanonymous/ComfyUI/blob/master/comfy/ldm/chroma/model.py
practically every single API node is well over 600 lines of code long. he has spent more time sucking API cock than properly implementing local models, as evident by his botched implementation of chroma that he refused to admit was wrong.

Perhaps, but he is still by far the best at implementing local models, so it doesn't matter.

I'd really like to see at least one proper competitor, but the closest thing we have is twenty different Forge forks which has development spurts and then become dormant, or crippled InvokeAI shillware for their proprietary version, and all these lag far behind Comfy in model / feature support.

It's not that Comfy is so damn good, it's that the competition is floundering. Much like how NVidia can coast and improve their hardware minimally between generations, because their competitors have nothing.

As said, no one can compete properly until their backend doesn't use Comfy for more than 50% of the code. Because otherwise, having a better frontend won't really garner you more support when you fork Comfy's backend at some undetermined date and then once your UI is good enough, it falls behind Comfy with new model support.
