I don't have those models specifically, but I do have a HyperOS 2 phone. I compare it a lot against my older S23 ultra.
In my experience, it's not bad. It comes with a lot of bloat, yes, but almost all of it is removable. The only things you can't remove are google apps. Which is a difference from OneUI which lets you remove or disable everything.
In regards of Ads, I don't really get any, not in the menus, not in notifications, etc. But then again, I turn EVERYTHING off since the setup. And disable notifications from almost every app except communication ones. I'd say my galaxy is even more annoying than my poco in that regard, which has notifications I can't disable.
Customization wise I'd say both are roughly the same, maybe HyperOS is a little more flexible with some things. Ironically, xiaomi's interface seems and feels more "android" than samsung's. My galaxy basically feel like a knock off iphone while xiaomi keeps the original feel. Funny isn't it? That chinks feel less of a knock off. Not that it matters much, android in general is slowly becoming just a copy of iphone now.
I'd experienced a few bugs in HyperOS that I haven't in OneUI. One of which is the desktop's icons get resetted to "default" and I have to re-arrange all my stuff again. This one seems to have been fixed in the couple last updates, I haven't seen it in months now. Another bug I've seen is with the QR scanner, for some reason sometimes (like really few, less than 3 maybe) my xiaomi can't scan a QR menu or something like that, it just doesn't recognize it, while my galaxy can no problem. And lastly, I've noted that the Bluetooth of my galaxy is faster to connect that my xiaomi's. But that might be a hardware matter, never's been a deal breaker.
In summary, both are pretty close when it comes to usability. It does come with bloat and ads but you can disable everything pretty quick and effortless. Not much different than OneUI.

I just thought of a really good idea. Does anybody know a way to make your phone beep or vibrate when it connects to a bluetooth device? I have several wireless earbuds and speakers. If I lost my phone somewhere in my house, it would be incredibly helpful if I could grab any one of these and turn them on and have my phone alert me to its position. If I want it to beep/vibrate multiple times, I can just keep turning off and on my speaker.

the snapdragon 8 gen 1 has MAJOR issues (look it up) leading to thermal throttling, including the camera not working for more than 5 minutes (and on 30°C days, not even 30 seconds), the 120hz display kicking down to 60hz, and (of course) shockingly bad battery drain.

I like my Pitaka case with my S25 Ultra, it has magnets but I've never used them. Stupidly got rid of my 25W 2M magsafe puck and magsafe wallet when I got rid of my iPhone. I hear it fucks with the S-pen though, but only when something is attached but that hasn't come up for me and shouldn't be a concern on the Flip 5. Also looking on their site it doesn't look like the two cases they currently offer for your phone have magnets.

No, every so often I get tempted by the forbidden fruit, the grass being greener on the other side and all that. At first, the restrictions are almost nice, no more worrying about ricing your home screen. But then annoyances creep in. Like needing Windows (or a Mac) and iTunes to interact with the thing for local backups and stuff. Having to tether to a computer to launch a GameCube game in Dolphin, which already requires an annoying sideloading process.

Point is, I quite enjoyed my time with the 16 Pro but grew tired of the limitations. Traded it for an S25 Ultra and am quite pleased with my new less restrictive phone lifestyle. It's still quite locked down and I would prefer a Pixel with a decent SoC, but it's a good balance with amazing hardware and tolerable software.

When charging any phone you never lay it down and should have a stand to keep it in a up right position with a open back for air flow. My phones (s25 ultra, pixel 9 pro xl and iphone 16 pro max) are all charged without wires and I have no problem. If you do it the right way you are good. i also use Samsung Wireless charging docks that have fans built into them that help the phone not get warm. If you charge your phone lying down and wired or wireless with no air flow or cooling it will get warm. Now my Anker battery packs have held up well and after 1 year my 16 pro max has 100% battery life.
