Can someone tell me what this MicroATX variant is called?
It measures 9.5 x 6.75, almost the exact height of Micro-ATX and width of Mini-ITX.
This board is fron like 2009. I got it like 10 years ago, and remember reading this form factor was somewhat standard, being used by other companies, and having a name. But I cant remember.

The manual for the board calls it "Flex/Micro ATX". But Flex ATX is 9" x 7.5" and can only fit up to 3 expansion slots.

Arguably the last place(5070 vs 9070) where AMD could maybe be worth discussing is gone due to 5070 price cuts.
Why are they even still releasing desktop gpus at all if they're not even going to try a little bit to be competitive?
Will youtube tech channels and reddit stop shilling radeon finally? Even /r/Nvidia every other post is just regurgitating GamersNexus and Hardware Unboxed seethe.

https://www.trendforce.com/news/2025/09/05/news-tsmc-to-implement-a-significant-price-hike/

>TSMC plans to raise prices by 5-10% for advanced nodes below 5nm, including the 2nm process scheduled for mass production by late 2025
> The driving forces behind this pricing shift are TSMC’s escalating manufacturing expenses, particularly its massive investments in Arizona, as well as its unrivaled dominance in the global foundry market.
>TSMC has invested more than USD 65 billion into its Arizona fabs, where construction and operational expenses are proving a major burden

Since trump demanded local manufacturing TSMC decided to pass the costs to the entire world who buy their products.

What I don't understand is that 566.36 was actually a pretty ok driver. The jump from 566.36 > 572.16 introduced at least 100+ bugs and a lot of them still have not been fixed in the latest driver. It's not just PCIE5 because 40 series and 30 series cards also have issues. Even if it was AI, there is a solid code base from before the enshitification that nvidia could look at, so what the fuck is happening?

Thoughts on this build?
I'm looking for a small form factor build, but also a strong one for productivity tasks. I mostly work in After Effects. I really like the aesthetics of the Terra which is where I started this build.
Money is not really a factor since work pays for it, but that doesn't mean I should get a 5080 for the hell of it either.
PCPP shows the cooler as incompatible but that's because it's only compatible with certain GPU limitations, which the 5060Ti is within.

Not that it actually matters to me, but the 5070 is definitely a top tier card this generation. Significantly more powerful than the 5060 Ti for proportionally little extra money (~35-40% extra performance for 20% extra money), and significantly cheaper than the 5070 Ti for proportionally little less performance (~25-30% less performance for 35-40% less money).
It's the sweet spot middle ground IMO.
>muh 12GB RAM
You'll be out of raw raster performance by the time you run out of 12GB RAM at 1080p or 1440p.

They don't sell used or refurbished parts, so I have no idea why this could be. The RM750x is out of stock, so should I just go with the RM850x? He'll be running a 5070, so he doesn't even need 850 watts, I just picked the next applicable Corsair PSU in the same range from the PSU tier list and found it's somehow ten euro cheaper. There’s a Samsung G5 IPS flat panel and many other 1440p IPS monitors with 165-180Hz refresh rate.
I would not buy an ASRock AM5 motherboard at the moment, especially for a first time builder.

Ultimately you can't fight entropy of the ambient room temps. The only advantages large AIOs have is their higher specific capacity of water to soak the thermal energy of the CPU and transfer it to the bigger surface area of the rad to diffuse said generated heat. Once the system reaches heat soak stage (say you are doing a many hour render/video editing job) it becomes no different than air cooling. Like >>106519497 said the designs are really 6 of 1 and half a dozen of another inside. https://www.aorus.com/en-us/graphics-cards/gv-n5080aorusx-w-16gd/Key-Features
It would make more sense given the GPU die typically isn't that much different size-wise from a CPU but generates so much more heat. We're already to the point that 3 and 4-slot coolers heavy enough to sag the mobo are the norm. I'd sooner use an AIO for the GPU than the CPU but I guess being so expensive and non-standard mount-wise compared to the two sockets of AMD/Intel makes manufacturing them difficult and no one wants to put down the extra BOM premium for one and it'd make installation and (re)sale more difficult.

ironically, highend mobos have more pcie lane sharing issues than lowend and midrange boards because of forced usb4 adoption

anyway i'd recommend you find a b850 board that costs no more than $220 from either msi or gigabyte. the msi b850 tomahawk would be my recommendation but you can go cheaper like the gigabyte b850 eagle wifi6e and still have a pretty good board

I thought so, but I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't overlooking something

You've got two options for motherboards.
1: Dope out your feature requirements and cross-reference them against the spec sheets.
2: Pay up for a board that covers all bases.
#1 is the cheaper way to do it but takes time and effort. #2 is, naturally, more expensive. Most people end up buying "too much" motherboard, especially for pure gaming rigs, which is obviously wasteful but not the end of the world if you have some slack in the budget.
