Being an astronaut is even harder but there are plenty of attainable high paying jobs that are less risky than a YouTube career. There are 1m doctors and 100k airline pilots in the US for example. Are there even 100k successful YouTubers?

astronauts do fuck all and they've being doing it for decades. it's not the 60s anymore, where you got that faggot liberal bullshit from. the real issue is that it's still a small industry so there aren't many of them.

but you know what you gotta do to be an astronaut? spend years as a military pilot and then apply. that's what it takes dickhead. if they're not faggot iss crew members they're mainly ex-fighter jocks; those are the actual guys that do the flying and command the missions. back in the 60s they'd spend all their spare time driving too fast and fucking all the women they could, whether they were married or not. you're not telling kids to join the heckin' militarino are you my dude? you're not telling them to go fight for the man?

Because network cables, switches, servers and maintenance bio-robots don't get cheaper, let alone fall out of the sky. Indeed, they get more expensive as time goes on - 800GbE switches are more expensive than 100GbE switches, which in turn are more expensive than 25GbE switches. OM4 is (a shade) more expensive than OM1 (yet OS is cheaper - it makes sense when you think about it thoeverbeit), 100Gb QSFP28 DAC cables are more expensive than 25GbE SFP28'ers. 128-core current-gen Epycs are more expensive than 32-core last-gen Xeons. And of course, the smelly brown monkeys crawling all over this infra want to feed their (extended) families, so demand more of the inflating and increasinglt-worthless dollarydoos you're giving them.

Now replicate this problem at backbone sites all over the internet. YouTube is a HUGE chunk of global internet capacity use, and was probably THE biggest one until over-the-top streaming services started becoming a big thing 10 years ago.

Market saturation. It would take the average creator months to make a 1 hour high quality video. Let's say 2 months. 1464:1 ratio.
A react '''content'' creator can then watch said video and produce a 1 hour react video, at a nearly 1:1 ratio.
All while the react video serves as a direct market replacement for the original video. The transfer from react to the original video is virtually nonexistent.

I guess we may have different definitions on what killing youtube means. For me, it means youtube turning from a platform that allows creators to make what they love, be discovered, and even make a living, to a platform where you have essentially thousands of interns creating content for a few large channels for pennies.

At the moment, videos that are hidden to restricted accounts are still available publicly available if you are not logged in. But this makes absolutely no sense at all from an implementation perspective. A porn site doesn't get away with asking visitors if they're over 18 only when they create an account. Videos flagged as restricted are going to end up hidden from non-logged-in users too, which is going to make self-hosted invidious-type services pointless. Public or semi-public (e.g invite-only) instances might still exist where multiple users share 1 account, newpipe etc might use a similar system.

I assume at some point youtube is going to make everything require a login (framed as adhering to your region's ID requirements). Five years ago I would say that would kill youtube, but people are just becoming more and more boiled to just logging into to services to access them (especially if they use a global login like facebook/google instead of site-specific), so the user dropoff won't be significant.
