Is there a phone out there that has just all of the features but not too an amazong standard? I want something cheapish but I want it to have everything, headphone jack, RF blaster, pressure sensor, thermometer, etc etc. Everything. But I don't need it to have an amazing cpu, or screen. That being said are there any good e-ink phones? I love e-ink on my ereader so if there are phone equivalents id like to see them.

i'm looking at getting a new motorola since they seem to be one of the few manufacturers still including a 3.5 jack and sd slot. i like the g stylus since it has more ram than the standard g model, plus a snapdragon compared to the rest of the lineup having a dimensity. i dunno how much i would actually use the stylus though, and the standard moto g is fairly cheaper. wat do?
im currently rocking a 7 year old moto e5 with 2gb of ram so anything would be a serious upgrade at this point.

One week with my pixel 9 + lineage OS. I like the screen, the haptics and camera. I don't like the fingerprint sensor and touch sensitivity. There are some mis-touches when playing chess. As far as the performance goes, it doesn't feel faster than my Poorco F1? What the hell? Anyways, it's a side-grade not truly an upgrade. Are other high-end phones better? I don't have options as Pixel is the only option for lineage os.

MicroG is probably fine but GrapheneOS devs are autistic about security and don't trust that microG will be secure. That's why they don't support it. Perhaps Google could ban accounts used with MicroG but unlikely.

But if you use neither microg nor sandboxed play services you have nothing to worry about, but in my experience it's basically impossible to use banking and some other apps and games even with these alternatives. You can sometimes use the bank website but it might not have all features. You can just not play games.

It all depends how far you want to take the FOSS approach. You can sacrifice convenience for security and privacy but unless you just use your phone for calling, texting (no RCS), browsing, and open source apps it's going be a struggle.

What small/light flagship should I go for?
iPhone 16 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro, S25, S25 Edge, Xiaomi 15?

I need it for standard stuff, like 2FA, messaging, mails, banking, car keys, music, navigation, calls and taking lots of family pictures. I am in the Apple ecosystem, but I want to escape and Android looks a lot more promising atm, especially all these AI features. I can charge all the time, so battery life is a 2ndary concern. MagSafe is cool, and I have it everywhere, but a MagSafe case should solve that.

I have an iphone xs. At this point I want to upgrade because the battery takes an hour to go from 100 to 60, and I suspect the antenna is dying. I want something with good connectivity and wireless charging.

e/OS/ is nice and all, but beware - if someone snatches your phone and has knowledge of flashing Android ROMs (or has recourse to someone who does) they can simply flash the stock ROM and relock the bootloader and sell it.

Not so with GrapheneOS since they explicitly encourage you to relock the bootloader with their custom key, something Murena's OS can't do last time I checked. All a thief would get is a paperweight or at best sell it for parts.

Personally, I gave up trying to run fully free non-Google Android because when I tried GrapheneOS on my Pixel 7 Pro and then Pixel 8 I ended up wanting RCS (we don't just use WhatsApp much here) which meant I ended up installing Play Services... ending up with regular Pixel minus some key features like Mobile Payments and SafetyNet/PlayIntegrity passing (so some apps/games still wouldn't work).

fair. i had a pixel 7 that i replaced 2 weeks before end of 1 year warranty because the battery swelled up and popped the screen off. before that, the lock button flew out because one of the rubber fixtures for the button basically crumbled. on the replacement i accidentally smashed the screen back panel, destroying the camera glass and permanently damaging the lens (shards or dirt got under it). i took it to repair and they quoted me north of 400eur, at which point i was like nah lol, i'm gonna get a new phone. hence why no longer into pixels and in the market for fp6 which i can (theoretically) fix myself without becoming a jeet phone repair store

yeah I was looking at it but the more I read about it the more apparent it is that Google really fucked up the pixel 10 series, primarily the new tensor chip. there is something seriously wrong with the modem, despite being the same as in the 9, because it is apparently the culprit of massive battery drain and the gpu has serious performance issues because they cheaped out with PowerVR impl, to the point where even running the phone with native resolution causes hickups, recent tests show it has the battery life of a samsung edge despite having 1000mah more.

cameras are also unchanged from Pixel 9 but the images are still decent. but the zoom in jitter, portrait cutouts and video quality is just as shit as it was on pixel 7 pro. idk what the fuck they are doing over at google. they also cheaped out on the battery component which is why they have to cap it to 200 cycles.

honestly im a pixel fan, im even an android dev so ive huffed my share of copium but honestly this phone is so disappointing, from a hardware engineering standpoint and software standpoint. all the new AI features are also complete useless gimmicks.
