Launcher people are pretty funny to me, vast, vast majority of the time the greatest waste of time and inefficiency will be the result of you sitting your ass and watching youtube and not how many half A presses you need to turn the app on
The only practical use for custom launchers today is for aesthetics and I think the new android look is pretty nice

What are the chances of this thing actually going open source now?

I agree but I need for my launcher to be able to bring hidden apps when searching and stock samsung launcher can't do that, otherwise I would use it.
So I have to use a third party one, Lawnchair.

Lmfao. If [CORP] pays enough or looks mean enough, [CORP] is allowed to ignore the clauses of the contract.

It's been shit. I still use it but the apps have been disappearing randomly for like half a year now. I guess I'll have to get used to the Samsung launcher

Everyone else reacting to Nova officially dying outside this site says to use:
>Smart Launcher
>Default Samsung Launcher with Good Lock
>Lawnchair
>or try something new with Niagara Launcher
as a replacement

I liked Niagara but for some reason it keep freezing after unlocking at random times so it was really frustrating. It wasn't really freezing its just i couldn't click on any apps.
I even gave them my shekels. Im on samsung. Anyone else have this issue?

Minimalist, simple, ultra-light on resources, fairly customisable, available in multiple languages.

It has all you'll ever need if you're not a fan of the clutter even Google can get guilty of these days...

Even on Tablets

jewish ads company with backdooring & pushing spyware history bought it, now every single activity involving nova launcher are logged & sent to israel to be sold to the highest bidder.
on top of spying on you, they also can detonated your phone if your behavior are determined not kosher enough

I moved to Lawnchair half a year ago, I can't actually remember what prompted this though. It feels very much like a customizable Pixel stock launcher. I do miss the "recent apps" thing when partially pulling up the app drawer.

I had to drop it when I moved to foldables, as it never supported those. Google needs to start pulling licenses on these devs that revoke or downgrade what you purchased and try and force you to a new model (Dictionary.com and AccuWeather, I'm looking at you) though.

Pie Launcher off FDroid, took off some local apps for the photo, but it saves a lot of time IMHO. Only downside is having to drag from the very top for notifications which is a literal drag.

If they were the type to do something like that, they wouldn't have effectively killed side loading.

Just installed Lawnchair. Thought this was abandoned years ago, but the latest beta just dropped this week.
It just works, too. Including homescreen rotation, which was the only reason I used Nova anyway (no other launcher detected my phone rotating for some reason).
Anonymous No.106539583

>Google needs to start pulling licenses
They do this all the time
>Mandatory edge to edge handling and 16 KB page size support when targeting Android 15
>Forced rotation and adaptive layout support for large screens on 16
>Forced dark mode on 16 QPR2
If the app doesn't comply, Play Store blocks the install (and hides the app iirc) from higher android versions
>revoke or downgrade what you purchased
You did knowingly buy a problematic device, though. Foldables are really lucky to be driven by Samsung flagships, otherwise they'd get ignored by apps as much as tablets and chromebooks

What the fuck is the point of Nova or any of these launchers that are basically identical to the default launchers? I use AIO Launcher because everything is in a list and is designed to be thumb scrolled, otherwise I'd just go with the default one provided by the Pixel factory image.
Anonymous No.106541742 >>106543184 >>106543242
I use Nova because it allows me to change folder icons from the fuck ugly default icon to a normal icon of my choosing. How most launchers don't have this option is beyond me. You think I'm gonna forget that my icon is a folder because it doesn't show me all the shitty little apps in it 24/7? I created the fucking thing, I should know what's in it. I've been using the same layout with slight tweaks since my Galaxy S3. I perfected the phone home screen 13 years ago, and can do anything I need to do faster and with fewer steps than anyone.

I stopped using nova years ago when they sold out. I've used Discreet launcher from the fdroid store and it has been everything I wanted in a launcher.

Any alternative launchers with the classic iconized, sliding app drawer? I don't like the modern approach of using gesture to open up the app drawer, much less those that you navigate by scrolling

This, plus "tap to launch first app, swipe up to open folder". It's useful for keeping my home screen decluttered while still having a lot of apps there.

In terms of hardware, either you get fragile Chink-shit, or the best money can buy.
Just like every other Korean product.

Unlike the Note 7, at least they're honest about it being intentional this time.
