Linux must be destroyed. I've been using computers for 20 years and even I can't get anything to work on this piece of dog shit. No normal person will ever be able to use it.

Been using debian+kde for 8 years, everything works just fine. Switched to windows anyway because of security concerns regarding picrel.

I'm not a coder nor dev but I have no issues with Arch+KDE. It's super comfy.

one of the first things i learned when trying linux was that what i learned prior wasn't computer knowledge, it was windows knowledge. it's not always obvious which is which if you've only used windows.
being deeply familiar with windows doesn't really help you git gud at linux. it might even hinder you, as you already have expectations regarding how things "should" work, especially if you can't tell if something acting differently is due to a difference between windows and linux, or a failure of linux (it's not acting like i think "a computer" should).

As the other side of this, I've stopped using windows completely in like 2010, so I only used it until win 7. I've used Linux since 99 with double boot, but since 2010 I only used Linux. These days I look like a computer illiterate when I have to interact with any modern version of windows.

i've kept up with windows minimally for work purposes, but i started trying linux in 2004 and switched fully also around 2010
even when i started i ran into the same issue i talked about, like when i went to find software to try on it, i opened the browser and started looking for things to download. that's how you do it with windows and even mac os which i had used before, so why would i even imagine linux was different here? i knew how to get software, right? if i was entirely new to computers, i wouldn't have done that, i would have asked "how do i find software for this?" and gotten correct information, but my prior knowledge held me back. that first install i never even learned about the package manager. thankfully it came ootb with all the basics i needed anyway (mozilla browser, gaim for irc/msn, k3b cd burner, openoffice, etc), so it got some use

I was on Windows for 30 years and felt comfortable in Linux Mint after only a month. Obviously it's not easy when you're just starting out, but if you stick with it it will get easier over time.

reminds me of just a couple days ago i went to copy a file from my phone to a friends' mac. i haven't touched a mac since 10.6, and haven't used one for more than an hour since 10.4.
it was so confusing. i literally had to find a browser and search for how to find the terminal app, i simply didn't know how to find the applications list/folder. it kinda reminded me of how linux felt when i first tried it, that unfamiliar feeling where you don't know how to do basic things with it.
all i needed to do was open an http link as i was running an http file sharing app on my phone, but safari kept disconnecting before downloading it, so i tried chrome, but it apparently couldn't connect to the phone at all. which is where i wanted to try wget, but mac os apparently doesn't ship with that. i ended up using a different http file sharing app which worked in safari... but chrome still didn't see it, not sure if it has some kind of local address filter on mac os, kinda curious why it acted like there was nothing there
