Is it just me or is there actually a short delay when you open the context menu (right click) on the desktop?
It's short, but it's there. Like a fraction of a second before the menu pops up.

I wanna know if it's a local issue or if it's really just shit like that.

It's really just shit like that.
And is the main reason you delete the shell extension registry key that activates that shit-stain of a context menu, so the old one from Windows 10 and below shows immediately.
And instantly. With all the options just there instead of hiding the actual useful ones behind the counter-productive 'Show more options' option introduced by the latest and greatest breed of Microsoft product management idiocy.

Yes windows is just shit like that. The UI is too bloat, it takes too long time to start up.

also though it's only the right click but it's actually the whole gui.
recently fired old winxp machine, fuck me how snappy gui is. win11 feels like trying to run in a fewer dream compared to xp.

No, it opens instantly, faster than mouse click sound. Check your computer for viruses

Lmao. It's literally just a layer onto of a layer. You can return the old context menu in regedit. It might actually be faster.

windows registry controls this. the delay is on purpose for slower computers so they can load everything without visual bugs. if you have a fast computer you can override this.

yeah the registry hides lots of windows options. like did you know you can control your nvme drive power states and shit? its all in the registry and not the windows power plan.

It needs to start up a JVM with vibe-coded DB, backend, frontend and a browser that will connect to it. The future is now, old man.

Load what? the icons? why aren't they loaded at startup and cached? Also why wouldn't they just check when things have loaded before showing it instead of using a terrible hack like adding a delay? it smells like indian developers

I did a registry edit to disable "Ask CoPilot". This is probably the source of your problem. They added it to the context menu sometime in the last few months and I'd been annoyed at the .8 second lag for the menu to appear.

It's complete garbage code made by some intern, both the file explorer and the right click context menu are fucking terrible in terms of responsiveness and snappiness. You can semi-fix it by reverting to the old context menu and disabling animations which makes explorer a bit snappier. But it makes my new powerful PC feel like it's old. Shame that there's no alternative if I wanna play vidya. But 'merimutts will never punish microsoft for having the monopoly on desktop space practically

Qubes OS is god, as long as you're not a digital crack addict (you'll need a separate gaymen rig for your digital crack)

>>106559385
>>106560104
Just install Qubes OS, then install Windows Server into a TemplateVM qube. I have the last version of QWT signed by the Microsoft key, with its attendant risks, but if you use the up to date version you'll need to nuke Windows driver signing checks for QWT. You want QWT if you're running Windows in Qubes OS.

I have to suffer the displeasure of using Windows 11 at work. There are small delays everywhere and the UI is very unresponsive at times even on a high end machine. It really starts to piss you off after a while.
