an inkjet that you refill with 3rd party ink

laser is 3x the price, so you can even replace the cartridges on the inkjet a couple of times and still come out cheaper

My 32 year old Canon LBP-4u has been pretty cheap. Bought it 20 years ago for 5€ used and it still works and you can refill the cartridge with whatever bulk toner. One of the cover hinges is broken, though, it is quite slow and there hasn't been windows support for drivers since 2000/XP or so, but it doesn't matter for me.
