You know what really killed me? That tri-fold Huawei with a hole punch. Like you couldn't fold out the main camera assembly and use that with an entire phone screen facing you while you do it. NO. Hole punch.

Forever, just like the 22:9 nonsense, the supa dupa extra mega thin with shitty battery life and a huge camera bump nonsense, and no micro sd so pay $150 more for more storage fuckery.

Also, it's a lot more expensive to manufacture than just a screen with a hole, and the goal of a company is to make as much money as possible.
