SimpleX
How is the call quality? What's your experience with it overall?

We had this conversation yesterday. It's not a honeypot, but it sucks and private XMPP is better. Also, it has too many deps.

I'm not legally bound to talk with them if I use it

The call quality is excellent, but the app is not usable or stable because it is poorly optimized when running in the background. It's so inefficient that my 4,500 mAh battery drained in just 11 hours.

An issue has been opened since Jan 2023: https://github.com/simplex-chat/simplex-chat/issues/1821

it's "cross platform" so equally shit

Works better than the alternatives in heavily censored countries, even Signal with all of the alleged mitigations they do gets hammered every other wave while Simplex keeps working.

Price is the lack of comfort features like sync across devices and such but it does its job when you need it to.
Bottomline, if you want to proselytize and get normiefaggots to use something less shitty (tm) this one aint it, if you need a failsafe in case a contacts government doesn't want them talking to you it's gold.

Regarding some other bullshit itt:
Nothing with audible code ("open source" https://github.com/simplex-chat/simplex-chat) can ever be a honeypot because they can't obfuscate the actual bit-by-bit terms of usage from you without you being tipped off by blobs or whateverelse fuckery.
Regarding battery drain: works on my machine, maybe buy a real phone idk. Multiple days with 4 messengers running in the background without google services here.

It also absolutely gulps down battery, awful software

You might be thinking of Session, that one all the kiddy diddlers used to advertise groups for on /b/ before jannies actually put their foot down and banned the threads

doesn't have user identifiers, instead conversation identifiers
lead dev doesn't consider IP address identifying information BTW :^)

What? It says that yYour IP is protected.

yeah their marketing is super disingenuous. because they use "conversation identifiers" to facilitate communication between users, they claim your IP address is protected, that there's no user ID to associate to a specific user, bla bla bla. except... your IP is visible to the simplex servers and simplex servers associate your IP with the aforementioned conversation identifiers in order to facilitate communication... so they still have all of that metadata but with their convoluted system can make deceptive claims that sound really awesome if you don't read between the lines. Built in Tor support was only added after pushback from the community after all of the above came to light.

You can push a button and your chosen simplex relay will proxy your communications to the relays of another person. Don't know if this is even default but it's there and easy. The relay operator doesn't even need to set it up.
Anonymous No.106580678
>>106580401
You still need to trust the relays in that case

A lot of pedophiles stopped using SimpleX because one of the devs came out and basically said he had a plan to deanonymize them. Idea being that if you report someone for CP, their relays can turn into snitches. Regardless of whether you think pedos should be reported, they're an ideal canary in the coal mine in whether a technology can be considered truly private.
>>106579012
Nah, there were SimpleX threads too. Just not as prevalent.

it's to prevent metadata leaking retard and for the end user it still works like if you had friend list
your 1 on 1 chats are simply just queues and each new chat gets unique one so you can't be tracked around different chats
