It really does feel like a stepping stone on the way to a foldable iPhone. Apple probably doesn't want a foldable that is so thick that it can't pass as an iPhone Pro when in folded mode. They probably couldn't solve some of the other engineering challenges though so they just released this as they know people will buy it anyway because it's Apple.

You're probably right they'll make a flip at lease first, because they are more popular despite just being worse than normal phones in every way.

That said, even a fold won't cannibalize ipads much. Ipads mostly sell due to retardation (including being used by small retarded kids), generally just having a extra device with another better battery, because they have much better perf/$ compared to iphones, and for use with a pen for some artfags. A fold isn't a replacement for any of that.

Never seen an iPad artfag. I know some people who owns tablets and they all say it's the perfect device to leave at home. Some use it for match-three games, some for YouTube and some for smart home controls.
I am happy with a desktop PC, a smartphone and a home server. You don't need more.
