Anons, I need help choosing an AM5 motherboard. It's for a workstation, I need lots of USB ports. LiveMixer is not widely available what are my other options, Gigabyte or MSI are preferable if possible because support is better for those brands in my country. I just need shitton of USB ports. I'd even buy a B650M HDV/M.2 if I can put humongous amounts of usb ports, I don't need a GPU btw. This workstation needs compute for building and usb ports for testing.

Looking to upgrade, wondering if I should just get a new GPU or do a full rebuild. The Mobo, ram, and CPU I got maybe 2-3 years ago, but the gpu is starting to get pretty old. Would be for gaming, but I play a lot of paradox/total war/strategy games, so CPU is more important than for someone who is only playing like call of duty or whatever.

I'm in the US and budget isn't really a concern, just looking for most bang for the buck. Leaning towards rtx 5080, 90 seems like the diminishing returns are just a bit too high.

Yeah. Work paid for the monitors otherwise I would have gotten a better refresh rate, but honestly as long as it's stable I don't mind capping at 60. Problem I'm having now is I'm trying to play sea of thieves and even at 1080p I'm dropping down to 42fps pretty regularly. I'll upgrade the GPU now and look at getting some better monitors maybe next year. Are there any brands that make a particularly good rtx 5080?

Also, is there anything in particular I should be doing to help run the dual monitors where one is the main gaming monitor and the other is pretty much just for discord or YouTube videos?

As long as this is 1440p or lower still the 5070, next-gen consoles are still a few years off so lowest common denominator VRAM targets won't really increase much until then. What's your current GPU? If you can hold off for the 5070 Super beginning of next year might be worth it.

1. Are you in the US?
2. If yes to #1, do you live near a MicroCenter?
3. What's your budget?
4. What monitor do you have or want to get?
5. Is this build mostly for gaming?

Only things worth waiting on right now are Black Friday sales in mid-November (yes they start that early) and the 5070 Super early next year for the extra VRAM and slight increase in performance from the bump in shaders.

Are off-brand/white label OLED monitors a bad idea?
Anonymous No.106594682
>>106594640
No, one of the great things about OLED as an emissive display is that the underlying panels are already 90% from LG & Samsung's factory and there is little variation in performance between whoever rebadging them unlike with LCDs where the overdrive tuning can make a huge difference. CRTs were the same way.

Makes me think how I would cope with an oled TV with even lower ppi if the text rendering looks THAT bad, like insanely bad
I might be forced to stick with monitors after all
always preferred res over lower res

Its hard to get good low wattage PSU for servers. I wish there was RM550X or something similar. Even 450W is plenty for this build.

What is the RAM meta for 9950x? Is it still ddr5 6000? 6400, 7200 or 8000 not popular yet? Or is the price to performance still not there? Its for compile heavy workloads. BTW, should I look at 7950x3d or 9950x3d instead of a 9950x?

buying ddr5 thats above 6000mhz is a waste of money for the marginal performance gains. the latency is more important past that.

Do you have a list of applications that can leverage all of the 9950X's cores and 64GB of RAM?

That mobo is fine (6x50A phases is plenty), and if you wanted to save some money if you don't need integrated Wifi:
Asrock B650M-HDVM.2
Or this model if you need Wi-fi:
MSI Pro B650M-A Wifi
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtHOOyWYiic

Slightly cheaper RAM:
G.Skill F5-6000J3636F32GX2-TZ5RK

For the case consider the Montech X1 that is much cheaper and already comes with 4 installed fans:
4chan won't let me post full pricetracker URLs so just search those part #s.

Adding onto that, what do I mean 1440p woled looks like ass?
Like in windows settings menu, trying to read small text descriptions, it's literally unreadable due to being so low pixels and the sub pixel matrix, like, looks like a pentile display extremely low res, like a 1080p lcd would be ultra clear in comparison
Or maybe I've forgotten how low res/ppi displays look? Can't be, nothing looks that bad
Like text letters missing lines and looking like it has artifacts or something fucked
Even just getting an unscaled 42" LG tv if it looks like that unscaled close distance.. yep it's over

I think I've reached the final setup of my next build: I've been interested in both the 9700X, the 9900X and the 265KF but considering that gaming is one of the main purposes of my future PC I thought that probably I should stop coping and I should simply get the best gaming CPU without compromises right now, especially considering I'll be playing some old titles at 1080p to try to squeeze out the max possible performance and that the total price of this build is safely below 2K. Country is Italy, my monitor has a 1440p res and 240Hz refresh rate. My current PC mounts a i5 6500 and a GTX 1060 6GB so I guess I should expect a pretty big performance leap. Do you have any last thoughts before I pull the trigger?

Looks good for the intended purpose. The LCD in the case is cool but I personally dislike things that are stuck on the CPU in the background but then again I have to do the same with AIDA64 for the display on my AIO. Most people prefer two drives, one for the OS and a second one for data.
