Why did the tech industry abandon the isometric icon aesthetic when it was objectively the best looking aesthetic they've ever come up with?

Isometric graphics were pretty based overall. Gave you all of the depth you needed in a very tiny performant package.

Because once Silicon Valley discovered minimalism, they realized it was easier to ship bland rectangles than hire actual artists.

Itβs just noisy and visually inconsistent, I still think it looks neat but designing thousands of icons around it sounds like a pain in the ass. Itβs not suitable for smaller screens either and graphic designers would much rather use a unified design language across multiple platforms. This is why something like numix or tela works better than breeze.

Variance is healthy for your brain, not to mention it makes things more identifiable, which is the whole point of having graphics.

Why do tech companies employ "designers" that they pay $300k a year then? Your job should be a pain in the ass if you're being paid such an obscene amount of money.

I'm glad Be Inc. died because I didn't have to suffer watching them become woke 25 years later.

OP, sorry but some styles aren't timeless. Windows XP is timeless unlike this crap.
