How do I get windows (10) to find the exact file im searching for and the folder its in via the search bar?
Such a simple thing. The most useful thing. A truly universal, accurate search tool. It just searches everything and finds what you need. And somehow decades upon decades after the creation of Windows it is still broken garbage.
I still remember the transition, I had a Win7 machine and a Win10, I would use the Win7 for searching and simply couldn't on the Win10. This company is so hopeless.

That useless dog can be disabled by flipping a bit in regedit.

Even in XP the search functionality was crippled. Windows 2000 was the last version of windows where the search 100% worked. Though at least with XP the windows 2000 search functionality could be restored with registry edits.

Windows 7 search is utterly unusable. Absolutely worthless. When I "upgraded" to windows 7 I had to switch to a third-party search utility because windows 7 search is not fit for any purpose.

I'm still baffled why they don't search the MFT to find the files instantly even on old HDDs on old slow computers, instead needing some 3rd party utility to do it.

I noticed this at work, we used to very heavily rely on the search on windows 7 and it almost always worked perfectly. When they upgraded our devices to 10 it became absolutely useless so now most employees just organize their personal folders on desktop and look got stuff manually.

You can find a regedit file on How To Geek which removes Bing from the search bar entirely. Maybe it's included in those debloating patches as well, but it's also available stand-alone.
