Which one looked the best visually?
Not sure what design xp would fall under since it's not aero.

Vista and 7 are basically the same. And Aero looked the best which is in a sweet spot where things feel modern but still stylish. XP was a different kind of soul.

XP in classic mode. Everything else is garbage.

What's the difference between that and 7 in terms of visuals
Anonymous No.106637742
XP felt the most coherent and consistent visually, although nowadays I can't really stand looking at the wierd bright blue clay looking UI. I still feel very nostalgaic for it. Windows 7 is definitely the "best" visually and still holds up as aesthetically appealing in general.

Nothing. 7 is just a revamped version of Vista.

Personally I like windows nt/95/98/2000. XP in classic mode is the same thing. It's easy on the eyes, neutral, efficient, and productive.

XP with visual styles is more easy on the eyes than the 9x theme

A resource hack is also needed to get rid of those hideous XP icons.

I'm quite fond of the 95-Me design, It even fits shitty Windows 10 flatness.

I was a kid when XP was released and all that shiny plastic blue shit really made it feel like a toy OS, so I really enjoyed it. I still like it more to this day just for that. Nostalgia blinded me.

XP with all the themes turned off.
I hate the Aero aesthetic and the overuse of gradients.

Vista and 7 > XP > Win11 > Win10 and 8.1
Anonymous No.106641042
I like 10. it's like a classic windows theme with it's sharp edges and dull colors, but modernized. looks just fine. dunno why some people associate it with corporate art

It peaked with 2000, dragged on as it's more popular incarnation XP, turned to absolute shit with Vista and saw it's last vestige of utility in 7. Anything newer than 7 is pozzed and nigger cancer.

Vista was fine, zoomer. The problems came from people trying to run it with outdated hardware.
Anonymous No.106641907
>>106641858
That was the problem with ME. Vista was deliberately made natively incompatible with everything that preceeded it, which rendered the whole OS unusable due to shit having to be emulated in the sloppiest way possible. Also drawing the display was no longer hardware accelerated.

Windows XP Royale theme was the best looking old GUI. It's like halfway between XP and Aero.

VIsta had a team of actual designers working on the UI overhaul out of these three.

A task bar that looks good and doesn't copy applel dock garbage
Windows and the task bar get dark and opaque when they are maximized which makes sense
The sidebar is actually animated
The logon UI is animated (fades in from black after the boot screen)
The glass texture on the windows is different
The window buttons are smaller (win7 made them bigger for muh touch screens)
The default wallpaper on the logon UI and desktop is much nicer
No "libraries" bullshit in the user folder, the image folder loads much faster

Windows 7 is objectively the better version of Vista in every way, including visually. It's: Win 7 > Win 10 > Vista > Win 11 > XP > Win 8. I used all of these. XP was my first OS. I don't miss it and I genuinely believe that retards who miss it are nostalgiafag zoomers who weren't even alive back then and who never actually used it. The same applies to CRTs. I was fucking HAPPY when I finally switched to a flat LCD monitor from a CRT.
