>RISC-V Laptop from DeepComputing
just werks

I love RISC-V but last time I checked a lot of software wasn't shipped for RISC-V and having to compile a lot of dependencies is just really annoying

If it has at least a C compiler, I can take it from there.

If you had one of those is Gentoo the best distro for it?

>It comes pre-installed with the self-developed Bianbu Operating System
So there's zero software for it. Wonderful

Doesn't work. I expect such stuff @ 199$

>Ubuntu or Fedora available
>Imagination BXE-2-32 graphics
so that's a firmware blob, right?
Stranded on the same kernel forever, just like NVidia Jetson boards.

... arm chips are like 3nm now guys.

What do you expect from a relatively new ISA with significantly less funding and research behind it?

the worst part about risc-v is that its slow and inefficient, rendering it completely unusable outside of hobby projects and "academic research"
Anonymous No.106645750 [Report] >>106645854
>>106644449
Was usable enough for me but I only used it for hosting some stuff in my network
Anonymous No.106645854 [Report] >>106645954
>>106645750
its usable enough in the same way a computer from over 15 years ago is usable enough
a $600 risc-v laptop makes no sense when you can buy a brand new m1 macbook for the same price

its good that its being developed but it isnt a serious alternative to x86 and arm yet
it has completely dominated microcontrollers already though

YouTube shows basically nothing about desktop linux on Risk V. I suspect it's very underbaked.

What if I don't like vendor lock-in and being able to easily upgrade most components?
Anonymous No.106646015 [Report] >>106646047
>>106645954
retarded false dilemma, using an obscure architecture is a good way to ensure vendor lock-in
just get some shitty windows laptop and have a worse experience thats still better than the risc-v
Anonymous No.106646032 [Report]
>>106645896
risc-v is only just about being implemented in single board computers

>Gives two options
>Gets mad when both are scrutinized
Also windows sucks balls, it'd only be usable with Linux which shills on here claim sucks on laptop so basically all laptops suck ass

portage would probably be the best choice for compiling everything yourself.

i gave you the option that didnt suck first and you didnt like it

This shit is not linear.
Nobody buys RISC because we want graphics.
We want to run programs that would run on 40 years old machines.
But we want it all to be open and free.

Go back to... >>>/v/ ?

Wow, holy shill, you're either a proponent of RISC-V trying to get someone to work on it, or a shill with a lot to lose...

...oh my God, you're just some retarded consumer with two or three Intel stocks, right?

That reminds me that Framework actually makes a Risc board. Should I get one to play around with?
