No. I used those specific batteries in a Maglite Pro (LED!) and they burn out in a couple days. They're pretty shitty. LEDs are more power-hungry than anyone admits.

The charger is fine but don't waste your money on NiMH-only chargers. Spend a little extra and get one that recharges li-ions too. A set of li-ion rechargeables are a little more expensive but my light can go for weeks between charges. Li-ions can only be charged in li-ion compatible chargers, but they're backwards-compatible with NiMH.

One other difference is that when the NiMHs were dying, they died immediately. The li-ions I'm using will still run for a few hours dimmed.

(Size matters. I use NiMHs from that EBM or EBT or whatever brand in a D-cell Maglite LED and they also last for weeks, but the NiMH AAs do not hold a fucking charge worth a shit these days. The only brand on Amazon worth a shit is that three letter one that starts with E.)

The only good kind charge each cell individually, monitoring the voltage of each cell separately to make sure they all get charged the correct amount.
Bonus points for an LCD screen telling you the capacity of each cell so you know when a cell is getting too worn out.

Most cheap ones charge all cells identically.
Which is bad if some cells are higher capacity/older or not fully discharged.

I suspect your batteries died because the charger is shit, not because they're shitty batteries.

I bought one from, uh, maybe Eneloop 18 years ago. Works great. It's just AA batteries. Ikea brand costs $20.

I've used a half dozen different chargers at this point, both the ones that come with the batteries and ones I've bought separately. They have all the "refresh" features and the LCD meter to track voltage, charge and health. It's not the charger. I cannot come to any other conclusion than that the Amazon batteries are private label junk.

Even other major brands-- Energizer is the only one I can get locally (NiMH only) and works better than Amazon Basics despite identical specs.

EBL is the only Chinese brand I've bought online that are consistently reliable (if you avoid the ones with USB ports; those always fail early).

This get energizer brand. Also avoid the ones with integrated usb-c charging, just get a charging cradle and rechargable energizers.

Why not just buy Eneloop and get the good stuff?
Anonymous No.106649856 [Report]
Just buy eneloops(and its re-brands) or GP(and it's re-brands)
