Everything is already from China, but here we discuss the cheap chink shit you see on various sites.
1st rule of /csg/: If it looks too good to be true, it probably is.

there's aggressive dynamic pricing algorithm in place. i noticed since about last week. when i add things to cart from coin page. if i leave the cart page and come back the prices have gone up.
so it's basically a coin nerf. unless you buy immediately. high pressure sales tactic.

i camped out the gem page to exchange my 6k gems for shopping credit and was able to get both the $1 and $5 ones. i had mere seconds to do it and it was done.

right that was the discount fluctation. that disappears in a day up to a week.
now they are changing the base price.
i'm talking immediately.
i navigated back and then return to the cart. a $10 cart went to $16. it nullified the coin discount.

I'd imagine Gamesir Tegenaria Lite goes down to around $10-15 with coins
8Bitdo Ultimate 2C, Gamesir Nova 2 Lite, and Gulikit ES/ES Pro/Elves 2 shouldn't be far above that for wireless

>Some spare Outemu mechanical switches to test
Haven't tried them yet but they're decent from what I can tell.
>Desk clamp for headphones
Cheap and convenient. No screw so it's easy to install and remove for cleaning etc.
>Ugreen vertical laptop stand
No complaints either, another nice desk space saver.
>Quick release system for camera strap
Good enough for my occasional use, it's still partially plastic so I don't trust it 100% with an expensive camera. Nowadays the strap is mostly off so it's an ok compromise for when I need to put it back on quickly.
>Retro PBT keycap set
Slightly disappointed with them, they looked better in pictures. I'll install them and see how they look but I doubt I'll use them.
>Pudding ABS keycap set
They were very cheap so I gave them a try. They look cheap and stupid. Bad case of mindless consumerism on my part.
>Green PBT keycap set
So far I'm happy with these, quality looks ok, but I haven't installed them yet. Was planning to start jademaxxing with the matching mouse.
>Pack of microfiber cleaning cloth
For wiping your phone, glasses etc. Super useful. Was recommended by anon a few threads back, they're great and cheap.
>Eweadn S9
A 1:1 clone of the viper shape. Got it because I love this color, it supports 2.4G wireless, wired and bluetooth so very convenient when using multiple computers. I'm not the pickiest with mouse build quality but I can't find any obvious flaw, buttons click in any position, no rattling anywhere, lightweight, the shape is a perfect clone. I know the driver is web based which is great but I haven't even had to use it.

I'm trying Kafuter AB glue in the guide. It's shit. I try to glue a broken fan blade. I waited 24 hours for the full cure time. The blade flies right off when the motor is running.
The glue appears all fancy. It has the super glue chemical smell. It's no different than basic water based childrens glue. It does not stick to the plastic. It peels right off easily. There's no hardness or adhesion at all.
In their video they glue two piece of metal together. They bend and hammer it to demonstrate its strength. No way this is the same glue.

Depends on your use case.
Personally, probably Elves 2 > ES Pro/ES > Nova 2 Lite > 2C > Tegenaria, but I've only used the Elves 2 and prefer wireless when able.

Out of those, only the Gulikit controllers have gyro if that matters for you. Tegenaria Lite's hardwired with awful stick linearity, but the d-pad's apparently good. 2C probably has more linear sticks, but has non-linear triggers. I've never had a good experience with 8Bitdo d-pads, but 2C was their first controller to start taking notes from the Vita so it might be fine.
Gulikit controllers have no extra buttons. Elves 2 sticks are tiny. No 2.4ghz, but the Bluetooth's better than even Dualsense Edge. Elves 2 d-pad is fantastic, ES's is probably good too. ES Pro is the only one of these three with TMR sticks, but if Gamepadla's linearity tests are accurate, I don't see any meaningful difference in performance.
Nova 2 Lite I've heard basically nothing about. I thought it had gyro but apparently it doesn't, so I guess it's probably effectively an ES -gyro +2 back buttons.

>nova lite
og nova lite was simply the cheapest possible wireless controller that functioned decently at its time. I don't think there's much reason to consider it these days since Tegenaria Lite and Nova 2 Lite are better controllers at similar price points, let alone everything else mentioned in this post
>the 8bitdo has tmr
2C and ES Pro are TMR (and also the cheapest TMR controllers, along with Machenike G1 Pro), rest of these are hall effect

normal "super glue" isn't going to cut it. you need to hot glue the shit out of it to the point where it looks like you used too much. i'm talking globs all around the break, enclosing it and then some.

AB glue is bi-component stuff (usually epoxy resin iirc), good ones can be damn strong and imo it should be enough to hold a small fan blade

That's an obvious troll.

Anyways. It's fake epoxy or I'm not mixing it right. How close does it need to be anyways. I put two small blobs of equal size and mix as best I could.
It start curing to a gummy like substance. Not fully hardened. Zero signs of bonding.

sounds like you did it right, it's a process that's hard to fuck up. I have only ever used a Pattex one that works really well, only problem is that it's all in the same "syringe" and one of the two components has hardened a bit over time so it's impossible to get a perfect 1:1 ratio, still I just mix the two parts well (they go from transparent to a bit milky and denser) and apply it and the next day it's completely hardened

I wouldn't even try to glue something that spins like that. You'd need to actually weld it. On top of that it might be one of the more inert plastics that hardly anything sticks to. I'd probably use one of those metal staple plastic welders and just embed an equal number of staples in the other blades to keep it balanced.

So trackball is what im going for, but i dont like the default ones that are set down somewhere and think a little bit of the gyroscope stuff can make it very nice and accurate. My folding keyboard could also be replace but im not sure by what yet, metas funny wristband looks cool but i doubt it can be used with anything except their glasses and i dont like meta anyway. I'm looking for powerful Chink lamps, of the "garage light" variety, with multiple fins.
The problem is that all the Ali stores seem to sell the same dozen variations of lights without giving reliable specs about any of them.
Loads of them are listed as 40W 60W 80W, some are even listed at 10'000 lumen. All of this is bullshit. I did purchase some 40W and 80W ones in the past (https://aliexpress.com/item/1005006069580538.html), and tested them and their real power draw was 10W and 15W respectively, and their output was really quite modest, pretty much in line with what you'd expect from a 10W bulb.
The thing is, I really do want some extra powerful bulbs of this kind that genuinely output in the 3000-5000 lumen range.

It's one of those categories where you probably are better off buying it from a middleman if you're able to. The branded as-seen-on-TV ones actually meet their stated specs.

Even when I had one of those I still had to open it up to fix a cold solder joint and I added more thermal paste behind the LED boards.

Zhang finally delivered my trash, here's my impressions;

The boring ones first, The cable ties are perfectly serviceable, not weak not surprisingly strong perfectly average cable ties, The model knife is nice in the hand the knurling is good, it holds the blade nice and tight is super sharp as it should be, bought 600 pieces of paper-thin double sided tape, better than i thought, have used to hang a poster and a power-strip, works well for now, the 3m Velcro straps I’ve used to hang drill-bit holder on my workbench, strong stuff perfectly good. No-name GPU support, it's nice and stable, does exactly what it's supposed to. Kitchen thermometer is accurate, if slow to show change in temperature, when i stuck it in boiling water it only increased from room temperature to 100c in 5 degree intervals, for 1 dollar i can't complain.

I'll join the other anons in praise of the engineer solder sucker clone, have used it to de-solder mouse switches, ,mighty sucking power solid construction, great stuff.

The Essager cable is a 240W with a display on one end, have tried with my Xiaomi phone, has the cq protocol for it worked great, my Laptop which does 65W through Thunderbolt, it does the full charge no problem whatsoever, and finally a 100W Soldering Iron, charged at full speed no problem, wish i had a tester to try the full 240W, but it seems to be what it says on the tin so far, wish I'd got the 1M variant inste4ad of the 2M one, it was only 70cents more for the 2M but it really is too long for me.

The dragon kitchen mat i thought would be more plasticly, but it has a "furred" surface, it is anti-skid as advertises and very absorbent, i worry how it will hod up in the washer but that’s a problem for future me, do really like the little dragon on it, no idea what he has to do with the kitchen but he is a cute little bugger

Received my Wurkkos HD03, standard Bic lighter for scale, paid 17€ for it, brief first impressions below
>construction
overall seems good and solid, pic doesn't show it well but it has a nice metallic color, body and clip are aluminium, the spring in the clip is strong and some rubber further helps with grip. There's also a magnet at the bottom of the clip that's strong enough to hold the flashlight upside down, just have to consider its position because if you place it on a vertical surface with the led part up or sideways it'll tend to swing to the bottom. The flood/throw switch feels nice, the button is just decent (it has a green-orange-red light that indicates battery level for a couple of seconds on turn on), the rubber cover for the usb-c port doesn't seem like it'll come apart easily. The size is small enough to tuck it away in a pocket and almost forget about it, but it's significantly bigger than the Nitecore Tiki (that I recently lost, so no comparison pics). Oh and it's supposedl IPX6.
There's a screw on the back but I'm 99% sure that the shells are also glued together so not tinker-friendly product
>leds
it has a ring of smaller, neutral, high-CRI leds behind a diffuser, they give a nice uniform beam with a listed max output of a bit over 300 lumens. They will definitely be what I'll use the most
At the center there's one cold, lowish-CRI led with a bit of throw, listed max output over 600 lumens
The outputs of both seem realistic to my eyes, both modes hold turbo for around 30 seconds before gradually stepping down, haven't tested this much yet but this is the kind of light that I use in short bursts or in low power modes so I don't particularly care
There's also a ring of RGB leds, I struggle to think of uses for them since the output is pitifully weak (red is noticeably weaker than even white's moonlight, which can be an advantage I guess if you only need a smidge of light), more on them in the next section (1/3)

single click for ON/OFF (no memory, always starts from low), holding the button for one second goes to the next mode and it loops between low-medium-high-turbo.
When ON a double click goes straight to turbo, but annoyingly from there a single click brings you to the previous mode rather than directly turning OFF.
When ON a triple click goes to the flashing shit (well tucked away which is nice, didn't even know it existed until I read the manual) and double click cycles between strobe-SOS-beacon, all at fixed max power from the looks of it. One click steps back to normal modes like with turbo. having the main modes cycle with holding the button and the secondary ones with double click trips me up, hopefully I'll get used to it.
At any time during operation you can use the switch to move between the throwy and the floody leds, this will step back from turbo or the flashing shit but on normal modes it'll maintain the current power level.
When OFF holding the button gets you to moonlight, it'll stay ON and from there you can cycle up to low. Moonlight is a bit stronger than I'd like
Now for a pocket flashlight single click activation isn't ideal, but with a triple click from OFF you can set an electronic lock, you can still hold the button to go on low but it'll turn off on release. Unlocking (with another triple click) directly turns on the flashlight rather than making you click again for it which I personally appreciate, but I can see others disliking (if you want to use moonlight you first have to go through low for example, not ideal) (2/3)

>UI/UX cont. (colors)
When OFF a double click takes you to the RGB, first with a fixed hue that you can change by holding the button (this is stepless and quite quick, so stopping on a specific color can be finnicky, but at least releasing and holding again inverts the direction so you can kinda go back and forth until you get what you want). The hue is the only thing that stays in memory so I set it to red, as I mentioned before its low output could be at least a bit useful. Double click changes modes, next one is a beacon with only the selected hue (again might be marginally useful in red to be slightly more visible to cars at night, but in this scenario I'd want more power), while the other modes either use a fixed hue or they automatically switch through all of them (they do so too quickly imo, which is often the case with these budget lights). They are silly and useless, might entertain a kid or a stoned friend for a bit i guess.
All in all it might not be perfect but the UI is very well thought-out for a budget flashlight.

Durability and battery life remain to be seen, but for now I'd say that it's great value for the price I paid for it despite it having an entire set of features I don't care about, I expect to get a lot of use out of this little thing if it doesn't shit the bed on me. (3/3)

Headlamps are great for walking and even running, if you get one make sure that it's tiltable since that can really come in handy. There are flashlights that can be mounted on a headband, just avoid heavy ones (like 18650 stuff) because then they become uncomfortable to wear on your head

Basically, yes. Leaded solder is easier to work with and less prone to cracking. Lead also reduces the formation of tin whiskers. Soldering temperatures aren't high enough to cause lead to fume, though solder can sputter tiny blobs around your workspace. Keep it away from food, wash your hands, and you'll be fine.
The other advantage of 63/37 over 60/40 is that it's eutectic, meaning that both the tin and lead melt/solidify at the same temperature. I have a 1lb spool of a good western brand that I got during covid and I'm kicking myself for not buying more because it now costs three times as much. I got these because Mechanic is supposed to be decent and they were super cheap with discounts.

I've heard lead free formulations have gotten better, and I should probably get a spool to have around, but I honestly haven't looked into it much.

So the options are either fnirsi or 200$+ for something decent.
And fnirsi GC-01 requires DIY modifications, like drilling some holes in the back cover so it works better for detecting beta particles, and maybe even replacing the tube itself.

They also seem to have three different detectors available, with GC-03 being a combo detector that works for EMF as well, and judging by its back cover, the tube is already well-exposed and should work better than GC-01.
Seems good, if the other functions work well.

Hey, this is a pretty good channel, thanks.
A non-Chinese dude who lives in China, reviews our favourite chinkshit, and is an actual techie that likes to experiment with things, what a combo.
Wish there were more like him.

And this Bosean FS5000 sounds like better Fnirsi GC-01, with every issue already fixed, both software and hardware.
This dude also made a video about GC-01, and now I understand why some of the older reviews I checked out are a lot more positive than the more recent ones, and why so many sellers offer it below it's MSRP.
Seems like Fnirsi quietly redesigned the product at some point, originally it had a much better tube, so even the original Fnirsi model is shit nowadays, not to mention dozens of knockoffs all trying to lower the manufacturing cost as much as they can.

Too bad he never reviewed GC-03, cause Fnirsi demonstrated in the past that they can sometimes learn from their mistakes and make better products in the future.

This sounds retarded on a conceptual level. Why would you want waterproof socks? You want socks that wick moisture away from your feet, if you have waterproof ones they'll either prevent that from happening (very bad) or do it badly (best case).
Just get proper hiking socks (big fan of Merino wool, if money is of no concern Silverlight socks are amazing but you pay for the privilege).
If you need them to be water retardant (not quite waterproof but almost) spray them with a silicone spray from the outside, the kind that prevents droplets from forming on the outside so you don't get humidity trapped.
If blisters are an issue, either double sock it (outer sock made of wool, inner sock made of polyester and shorter) or use the tried and true tape method.

I have a cheap gun shaped one and it is accurate enough for cooking. I wouldn't trust it for precise measurements, but for frying oil or a pan it's sufficient. If you get one, do yourself a favor and read the manual, due to the way they work the reflectiveness of a surface influences readings and you can program a reflectiveness index in. I've got a Snowsky Echo Mini myself. It's great if you like to just put it on shuffle and throw it in the pocket. UI isn't great, but it's light and has very prominent physical controls.
In general, you want to look at what Hiby, Fiio, Snowsky and Shanling have to offer -- all solid brands, with a decent lineup. Tempotec is also up there with their V1. The rest is meh at best.

What are some options for a more premium variety of controllers?

i need:
-xbox layout
-decent QC
-the ability to put the L2/R2 on a hair trigger with -short travel time
-good ergonomics
-feels hefty if possible

pretty much everything else is optional, i'm only going to play it wired on PC anyway

Poking around these are the ones i've seen mentioned:
GameSir G7 Pro/SE
Flydigi Vader 4

I have the Flydigi Vader 4 and I really love them, only thing I'm not a fan of is how loud and clicky all the buttons are.
They all feel and sound like mouse buttons, which is good because they'll probably last a very long time, but it gets kinda annoying if I'm not wearing headphones and I have to mash the A button or whatever.
It has the Xbox layout, feels hefty and extremely well built, way more comfortable than my 8bitdo and has the hability to turn the triggers into buttons with a quick switch.
I also like how many extra buttons it has (4 on the back and an extra 2 face buttons).
It does bluetooth and has a 2.4ghz dongle, adjustable TMR sticks, and you can even get a charging station for them.
Battery life is alright, a bit worse than my 8bitdo.
The app has some pretty in-depth options and you can set-up multiple profiles that get saved in the controller and work both on BT, wired and dongle.

Oh, I forgot to add that the battery is probably due to the LEDs.
I'm usually a guy to turn those off but they're the only indicators of which profile you're on, so I have to leave them on. You could probably turn those off if you'll only be using a single profile.
I can't really comment on the rumble (always turn that shit off) and the d-pad (don't really play games that depend on it) tho.

I've actually returned barely anything, but got refunded *A LOT*, and even chargedback a couple items.
My beef is with the randomness and the gall to deny refund precisely on the most objectively undeniable cases (while granting it on the most objectively iffy cases).
That and the robo-denying/granting, according to how/where you file the dispute, regardless of arguments/evidence.
My advice from my (extensive) experience is to *always* try "item not as described" whenever you possibly can: I've had bunches of items robo-denied within miliseconds under other items, just to cancel disputes and reopening them as not as described, to have them also robo-approved within miliseconds, without changing a word or evidence in the dispute; it's absolutely crazy and unserious.

Guess it depends on how you present (and counterargue) your case. but like I've said, it's the complete lack of seriousness/consistency/predictability, the randomness, which really did it for me.
