It's amazing how little support there is for wifi chipsets on Linux. Those USB wifi dongles? 2.4GHz only if you're lucky!
I finally figured that Intel wi-fi is your only stable option and luckily you can get those for $5 on aliexpress, which are just ewaste laptop wifi cards shoved into a mini-pcie to pci-e adapter.
