Is this what happened to r/cpp?
https://larslofgren.com/codesmith-reddit-reputation-attack/

The rustling evangelists u/STL and u/foonathan endorse Rust, protect the convicted rapist Arthur O'Dwyer, and deletes people that defends C++, all on r/cpp. And this article sounds eerily similar.

It's interesting how one schizo can create a narrative like this. You see it a lot on 4chan too, but it's usually more contained.

Is Michael Novati really a schizo, and not a ruthless, psychopathic competitor, who had a lot of success with his harassment in some regards, at least if the article of the OP is to be trusted? Less mental illness, more being evil? Though one does not exclude the other.

A lawsuit might make sense.

You're right. I was using schizo in more of a 4chan type of meaning, ie people who aggressively try to derail and control narratives. Very common in generals, but also per board schizos etc.

I think the problem, that the author brings up, is how unreasonable it is to fight back against something like it. Naming and shaming will obviously be effective, like in this case, but it's so much work when nothing concrete is ever stated and every source is secret.

True, for instance, the rustling evangelists have been especially active in /g/. And other forums as well. Like, when Linus Torvalds himself tells a major rustling evangelist to stop his social media brigading, it's way, way beyond the pale what the rustling evangelists are doing.

Lawsuits are expensive, and you still might lose.
US is a very free speech biased area. So long as we have the 1A, "defamation" is very difficult to prove. Both defamation AND doxxing will see an uphill battle in court because of the 1A.
Frankly, the answer is to fight speech with speech. If they are getting dirty with defamatory moderation, then doxxing is the most appropriate response.
That's just the reality of the society the 1A creates.

>The "astroturfing" has been a feature of this place for going on a decade now. Stealth marketing. Vote brigading. They targeted activists with their messaging so got all of those tactics for free. I kept mentioning it under my old handle going on a decade ago, before your time as a mod. It's faded now that endless chat about Rust has been normalised here, but in the beginning it was jarringly obvious.
>Now it's just the former honcho popping in and spreading honest to goodness wholesome positive vibes about Rust together with converts whenever an opportunity arises. The negativity here about cpp is palpable and it didn't happen organically.

And there are a variety of comments by u/foonathan where u/foonathan's hostility to C++ and ISO C++, and friendliness to Rust, in r/cpp, are very clear. And u/foonathan even had the gal to pretend to be against Arthur O'Dwyer, the convicted rapist, all while he and u/stl still protect Arthur.

Are you one of them? You could, for instance, tell us who is sponsoring Arthur O'Dwyer at ISO C++, such that pressure could be put on the sponsor, and Arthur hopefully finally get kicked out of ISO C++.
And no, considering that zero papers that Arthur made for C++26 got accepted, and Arthur in one paper whined about people not seeming to like him, the issue does not appear to be the C++ community, constrained as they are by ISO rules.

He is simply a sadist on a personal mission to cause harm to others for the purpose of causing harm.

It's not about competition. Someone who goes to codesmith is not his lost customer, since they do screening and filtering of applicants. They don't take infinite people, their programs are always full.
In the blog post you can see comments of other CEOs of bootcamps who prais one another. Their market isn't competitive.

Most shills are sadists. And often times their sadism works against them.
Think about Israel shills running around and celebrating dead babies.
The whole Ukraine information warfare lost its most major appeal... the victim role... when NAFO repeatedly demanded genocide and torture.
Or leftoids on twitter when they wanted to rev up and kill all the unvaxxed.

The sadist shill in this example sadly never went on such a openly hateful psychotic rant, so he could go for longer and more successful.

The problem is that most of the Internet population did not grow up in lie-filled shitholes and does not have any resistance to it. The second problem is that there is no clear solution to this. The Internet was dead because of this before AI and now it will drill the ground to the hells abyss.

Nobody uses Ada. It's a personal zogbot language.
And the defense contractors using it are known for fucking shit up and get jets crashed when they cross timezones.

If you consider Ada an option for anything, you either have no idea and spread zogbot propaganda for the sake of it - or you are part of some defense contractor, in which case your performance doesn't matter, since they are government jobs with no risk, they don't have to compete.

What is dire about it?
Defense contractors swim in money. They can produce utter garbage and will still earn billions with it.
Safety is not a consideration for them. Nobody cares about a soldier dying because of his equipment failing. It's part of war and normalized.
In fact, they even claim equipment failures where there are none. It is far less embarrassing to die because of some rare bug in muh state-of-the-art gear than to admit to have gotten killed by a sandal wearing goat herder.

The F-22 with a unit cost of USD 400 million had a complete software crash because its Ada written operating system couldn't deal with a timezone change.
No other branch would accept that. But for the defense industry, this is alright.

I understand why there are Ada (or now Rust) zogbot shills here. Shilling is their thing. They have departments for the purpose of shilling. It's their "informational war".
Shilling for Ada on /g/ is the equivalent of the /meg/ - Military Enlistment General on /k/.
The only jobs you might get with Ada, are defense contractors. They tell you to work for ZOG, without openly saying it out loud.
The problem is that defense contractors don't hire on merit. They are under full DEI influence, nepotism and quotas. You aren't going to get that job anyway, no matter how good you are.
Anonymous No.106846880 >>106847271
>>106846412
>Aside from advances in air vehicle and propulsion technology, the F-22's avionics were unprecedented in complexity and scale for a combat aircraft, with the integration of multiple sensors systems and antennas, including electronic warfare, communication/navigation/identification (CNI), and software of 1.7 million lines of code written in Ada.
>The F-22 was first deployed overseas in February 2007 with the 27th Fighter Squadron to Kadena Air Base in Okinawa, Japan.[238] This first overseas deployment was initially marred by problems when six F-22s flying from Hickam AFB, Hawaii, experienced multiple software-related system failures while crossing the International Date Line (180th meridian of longitude). The aircraft returned to Hawaii by following tanker aircraft. Within 48 hours, the error was resolved and the journey resumed.[239][240]

And Boeing uses Ada some of the time.
https://aviation.stackexchange.com/questions/80932/what-programming-languages-is-boeings-mcas-written-in
The MCAS involved in crash?
And Boeing has a poor reputation, with all the civilian crashes and fatalities. And some whistleblowers assassinated? Though it may or may not be related to what programming languages they are using. And I do not know much about Boeing, nor their track record relative to other companies and competitors in the markets they are engaged in.

One comment:
>SPARK is increasingly replacing Ada since it is more assurable and removes a lot of the Ada ambiguities.

So users of the SPARK dialect of Ada think that there are "ambiguities" in the main dialect of Ada.

I can understand the goal of ensuring that vendors can earn money from innovation, and I assume that SPARK is private sector. But having dialects like that, possibly giving a commercial incentive to not fix the main dialect, or even worsen it, rubs me the wrong way. Like, the Ada/SPARK dialect might have pattern matching, and the main dialect does not yet have it as far as I know.
