Deciding on the time you'd have with her - and the time that felt right for how long she'd essentially be trapped in each loop - was a tough one. I didn't want to make it too short or else there'd never be any chance for her to get to know you at each loop segment. But not too long or else... well, you'd be chatting for forever.

Unfortunately, this was kind of a compromise - so it's completely valid to get to a steady state situation where you can narrate that 'X amount of time passes' if you're running out of conversation fuel / patience. Because obviously the finale is the catharsis point.

The idea is that there's a tension with her sense of hope. Hope is toxic in her current state - except that hope represents a brief respite from her constant drive to solve the problem, thus providing her a means to escape mentally. And you can provide that escape - an escape which finishes in the night not resetting. So 'scoring' in this instance provides the context for a long, intimate period of exploration of non-hotel-related conversation and building with her.

That's obviously just one way to play it though.

Older models are also mode-collapsed, basically everything since GPT-3. It's the result of post-training. Only true base models are not, but they're useless because they don't have any character, they don't know what to write (this looks pretty unhinged), and aren't instruct trained. They all have 4k max context as well.

You actually want the model to be restricted in a fairly narrow range of writing compared to the full space of possibilities, but be as diverse as possible inside that narrow range. Nobody has solved that yet.

Have you ever managed to nail a character personality? Like really lock it in? No budging no matter the circumstance or chat length?
