tech nostalgia for hardware is kinda neat because they definitely tried radical designs and some hardware was definitely badass looking but actually trying to use hardware to do anything productive is fucking retarded. unless youre trying to do some sort of novelty/art project with it.

for example ill take my smartphone over an old ipod every day. i can use rsync to keep my entire library synced effortlessly and control it via android auto while driving. the gains of convivence are from it are so dramatic it makes using retro shit for the MUH AESTHETIC completely stupid

I don't even remember calling anything "aero" in the XP era at all. Aero was the style of Windows Vista and then 7, that's all I actually remember from back then. "Fruitiger" is definitely a word I only heard much, much later.

Point is, it works for me (nothing I ever want/need to do on it has been an issue thus far) and it probably would for you as well if you had the skills to make it happen.
