It's the basics of the chink RPG. Someone linked CarPT here when it was open and I passed all the requirements on it for fun even though I don't really need it. M-Team is a long term goal for me but I've been busy so I haven't taken any actual steps to reach it.

Anyway /ptg/ is not a thread about torrents. It's about torrent trackers. It's somewhat of a bad fit on /t/ which is both a slow board and dedicated to sharing content rather than just talking about it.

It is somewhat ironic that private trackers would need a public discussion especially when no one outside is allowed to join, if you catch my drift.

You are allowed to join. That's a big part of the reason why this thread exists. It's not easy for any random fag to get in but if they want to know how they can come here. Then they can cry about how it's too hard and fuck off. I know there are a few people in here who are seriously trying to climb but it's nothing like it used to be when things were easier. Other than that we just gossip about the sites in ways that would get us banned if we did it on the sites themselves or spaces connected to them like r/trackers.

He's made out to be a total asshole in fact. But his soup is delicious so nobody wants to step out of line and lose access to it. So they put up with him. Tracker staff can be like that. There's been more than one time I wanted to reply with fuck you go kill yourself or whatever. But I know better. I'm there to pirate shit not fight for a noble cause. So I leave it be.

>who only logs in at a specific time for 1 hour every day
Believe it or not but some people have lives. I prefer a mod that actually does things outside of moderating a private tracker compared to the ones that sit on their ass all day, refreshing the site to see if someone might have made a small oopsie somewhere. The latter is the type you DON'T want to have on your site because they often take themselves too seriously.
>responds to every message passive aggressively by simply copy pasting the vague rules without clarifying anything
In other words, the answer to the problems that many people have can already be found in the rules. I would also start to become passive aggressive if that's what the majority of staff messages are like.
>warns you threatening to ban for uploading conent that isn't forbidden
Doesn't happen and if it does, you are free to post all the proof here, on le reddit or wherever else outside of the tracker so you won't get yourself /marked/. The thing is, these kind of posts almost never show proof and they almost always end up either being made up or the user leaves important info out on purpose. Same with your post, so there's no way to verify your claims.
>and randomly deletes forum posts
See above; all allegations without a single piece of proof.

When I started getting into private trackers a few years ago (I guess around 2021) neither PTP nor HDB nor BTN recruited, so it was impossible for me to get into them. Then they started recruitment eventually and yes, with much harder requirements than the last round, but at least it was possible to join them again.

You know what you could do if you want to prevent that, anon? Give them a detailed explanation about what you've already done in your initial message. So, for example, when you include "I've already restarted the system" then they shouldn't have tell you that you should try to restart the system. The reason that they have to tell you those 5 steps first is because they don't know what you've already tried if you don't let them know, and majority of the users reaching out to support are retarded anyway so a lot of times those 5 steps would already include a fix for those people.
There's a reason why a lot of customer support nowadays is hidden behind some retarded AI bot. You'll first have to tell the AI about your problem and it'll try to give you an answer to your problem. You have to try REALLY hard to actually get to a human if your problem isn't something basic but for the company/service/whatever it's still worth it because again, majority of the issues can easily be solved using those 5 steps and it's cheaper to have an AI say it over an actual human.
Luckily private trackers still have actual humans going through support tickets but just like with the rest of the internet, there will always be lots of retards that can access and fill in the support form just as easily as you can.

Yeah Funky Stuff, Marcos Valle, Troupeau Bleu (also a FIP classic, also One Beer...) is stuff that Youtube recommends to everyone. Not bad music but when you can see the view counts are high as fuck compared to a lot of music that's just as good you'll find if you dig deeper.

This is the tactic used by private usenet indexers.
"If you've bought an invite, come forward and let us know immediately. If you do so, we might let you keep your account."
This is just a nice way to scare neons into ratting out on their sellers.
And of course you will both be banned, and your dox will be shared to all other indexers/trackers.

xerf xpec was the name of one channel, he renamed like a thousand times cus copyright, currently Xearching For Sounds; mostly j-fusion j-jazz and city pop and such vaguely related things. WMTD is Weird Music Tastes Different, where I found mabumi. Another similar channel is Terminal Passage.

I once bought an invite, and let me tell you; it was absolutely not worth it.
From the constant fear of getting caught, to all the hoops I had to go through...
Couldn't sign in without connecting to a residential proxy (because my real IP was tied to legit accounts), and couldn't download using my seedbox (because server IP was again tied to legit accounts).
Every time I got a notification, message, or email, I was shitting bricks that this was the final one.
In the end, my account of course got banned. Because sellers sell to so many people, that it eventually will be found out.
>But why sellingz is bad tho?
Because it opens up trackers to copyright trolls, and other people with malicious intentions, which in return can (and will) bring down the entire tracker.

>Let's remove something a small fraction of people use, because an even smaller fraction of people misuse it.
User invites are an integral part of Private Trackers, and have been so for as long at they've existed.
Many trackers already have a very healthy system set up, where they rely completely on nothing but user invites.
The problem with PTP and BTN, was that they became too big to maintain a healthy ratio, combined with the fact that gaining invites in the first place, was already near impossible.

That was actually really fun.
I don't know if you already closed the thread (you probably did), but here's my walk-through at least.
I knew that all planes are being tracked online (from that whole Elon Musk's Jet scandal), so I figured there was something for ships as well.
After searching, there are indeed loads of websites dedicated to tracking current, as well as historical, information about ships.
From the image provided, we can barely read the text on the back of the ship.
It's Russian and says "ΠPTΠ«Π¨".
Knowing a bit of Russian helped here, but otherwise you can easily translate it online to "IRTYSH".
So now we know the name of the ship is Irtysh, and that it is probably owned by a Russian company.
After searching for the name on vesselfinder.com, there was 1 hit for a Russian owned cargo ship.
By opening the page, we can see that it visited 2 ports in 2024. One in China, and one in Mozambique.
The question asks for an African port, so it's most likely the right one!
Clicking on Beira revealed a weird code, next to the name, so I tried copying that to Bellingcat and... Success!
What a fun little task.

I think the "problem" with these sites really, is that they don't really want or need more users. They've already decided what community size works best for them for the kind of site they want to run and don't want to just keep growing endlessly. So they will only recruit to maintain that specific size they want, and the pool of people who want to get in will inevitably be much larger than the number of slots that open up as old accounts are pruned (especially as over time users start to value their accounts more seeing how difficult the site is to get in)
I put problem in quotes since it's really not a problem for those running or using the sites, just things working as intended, but yeah it sucks if you want to get in. Though honestly I feel like more paths have open up in the past year or so compared to how things used to be where you were just shit out of luck trying to get into those places through official recruitment.

I've used them for their intended purpose sometimes (inviting actual friends who were interested) but it's never actually worked out that well. You just need a specific flavor of autism to actually care enough about your piracy needs to be willing to put in the effort to stay in good standing in a private tracker early on. Yeah it becomes easy and automatic with time but it's rare to find people from within one's own circle of acquaintances that's willing to put in the initial effort when there are much lower friction options early on.

Repetitive questions get simple dismissive answers. The value of HDB in relation to BTN and PTP has been explained in the thread many times. If you actually care look in the archives. What's the point in explaining it over again if you're just going to dismiss it once I do? If you need to ask you're a neon. If you're a neon you won't see the value in completing the climb. If you don't see the value in completing the climb you don't belong.

Besides merely being in HDB for it's prestige there's the trinity strategy. Download on BTN with no ratio. Cross seed to HDB. Build buffer on HDB and download movies there. Cross seed to PTP to collect buffer and points.

Not really. When you think of PTP think of a tracker that feeds off the strengths of all these other trackers. Collecting HDB's high quality HD encodes, KG's arthouse library, CG's b movies, and everything it's users contribute as well. It's both a primary source and aggregator. HDB is just focused on high quality HD encodes and the sources to make them with. WEB-DLs are there too for convenience but obviously other trackers are better for that. It's really easy to build buffer on HDB, PTP is already easy but HDB is a fucking cakewalk. You can also hit and run there all you want. As long as HD movies are what you care about most HDB is the best backup for PTP.

Copyright trolls mainly go after the lowest hanging fruits, so they'll scrape IPs from public sites to send out letters most of the time.
The public "market" is much higher than the private one, and it's a lot easier for them to target there.
Maybe it has happened in the past, 15+ years ago or so, but I haven't heard about any instances of this happening on Cabal.
It has happened on Private Trackers before though.
The Danish copyright trolls started going after users in the last couple of years.
https://torrentfreak.com/torrent-site-user-who-transferred-120tb-of-pirated-content-avoids-prison-221128/
The more experienced copyright trolls will try to target Cabal in other ways.
As with most of these cases, they'll only go after the owners though.

It's to prevent having only those 200 seeders continuously upload to every new leech.
The new leech should seed himself to the leeches that come afterwards.
seedbox fags ruined private trackers
you literally can't get any upload because every new torrent is 95% seedbox users autosnaching, its just seedbox users uploading to other seedbox users, literally making up buffer from thin air
they all have 100TB+ buffer but they are mentally ill and just need MORE
the beast way to solve this is to cap buffer, so let them seed for free
ofc PT admins wont do shit because all those seedboxcucks are also donators keeping the sites alive, a literal circlejerk

I'm not gonna deny that a lot of old stuff is being kept alive by home-seeders, but without Private Trackers, and the mass amount of seedbox users, lots of things would be in severe risk of becoming lost.
If a show takes 3 weeks to download from some 10kb/s connection in Argentina, most regular users will quickly abandon ship, and write it off as a loss.
But seedboxes will continue to cling on to that hope, and once the data has finally been shared in full, the data can more easily propagate to even more users, which will in turn help keep it alive for even longer.

"Some niggers kill and rape, and therefor all niggers are bad".
I get that you have a hate-boner for racers, but that still doesn't mean that seedboxes are not a valuable asset for torrent retention.
If I could, I would invite you to view how I personally utilize my own dedicated seedbox.
From a fully stacked arr-setup, to my completely automated cross-seed implementation, spanning across multiple private (and public) trackers.
I try to do a manual cleaning, preferably bi-yearly, where I switch the episode releases out for dedicated packs, to better help with retention.
I'm not gonna deny having raced quite a bit on this setup as well, but that's just what you gotta do when joining a new tracker.
The largest majority of my storage (50+ TB) is dedicated to perma-seeds though, many of which I am the lone seeder (and have been for years).

The problem with home connections usually isn't the speed but the peering. Like my own ISP. What route is it going to take to reach your ISP and how shitty is it going to be? It makes the biggest difference in the smallest swarms. If there are only a few people seeding the torrent but one seedbox giving me great speeds while the others are mediocre it means I don't need to wait so long for the torrent to finish downloading. This is far preferable. Likewise downloading from a ton of seedboxes in a big swarm is the premium experience. In speedtest threads here on /g/ you always get people saying shit like "I never max out my connection except when I download off steam." Other people paying for seedboxes that serve you is a big part of what makes private trackers so great. It's not worth crying about upload you didn't get because of them.

It's not like Euro ISPs have incredible peering either. But there is a high chance that your ISP has excellent peering to Leaseweb, OVH, etc if you live there. Really if you live in Europe or North America and are able to get good upload speeds you should not have a big problem building buffer without getting into the more advanced strategies. Cucked upload is a problem for a lot of people though. I thought it was almost entirely an American problem until I looked in the speedtest threads. A lot of euros are fucked over too. The obvious thing for a home user who does not want to pay for a seedbox but has little hope of competing to do is to invest in storage. Hoard bonus points.

You can tweak qb settings but I don't think it will do much with USB storage on a pi with a bad connection. Perhaps stop serving the public trackers. Continue downloading from them but don't leave shit seeding. Stop the torrents when they hit 1 if you feel bad. You can get things to cross seed to GGn from public easily.

There's also the connection saturation.
If a home connection is limited to 50MB/s download (as an example), another home connection can upload to him with 3MB/s, but when a seedbox comes in and sends at 49.75MB/s, the home peer can only do 250kB/s upload.
In older /ptg/ threads discussion about seedbox use were very controversial and at times it seemed like I was the only person who wasn't totally against it. I had to explain my own situation in detail before it made sense to people in they backed off when I talked about using seedboxes. But in these older threads I also explained that if you pay for one it's not like you need to keep paying for it forever. You can just do it long enough to get the amount of buffer you want. Once you think you're set on your trackers you can stop paying. Don't you think that makes more sense if you're an adult with a job and a life who doesn't want to spend all your free time playing hobby sysadmin? But who am I to speak, I'm an adult with a job and a life who wants to spend his free time playing hobby sysadmin even though his IRL job is sysadmin.

Another point I feel is important to make. The culture of piracy, not just private trackers, has shifted entirely. We have gone from the idea that streaming was going to kill piracy to RETVRN TO PIRACY. People don't want to pay for 20 different streaming services. But they want the same convenient experience. So we have people using sonarr, autobrr, jellyfin/plex, etc and also sharing it with their less tech literate friends who wouldn't understand how to manage a setup. If you take this into account the idea that everyone using a seedbox is just trying to hoard 100TB of buffer seems pretty dumb. Do you think these people are obsessing about their buffer and ratios the same way some of us are? Or do you think they just pay the bill and let their automation setup do everything? Of course there are a lot of people who post in this thread who manage these kinds of setups on their home connections. But some people have cucked upload. Other people don't want to play like I said, hobby sysadmin. If you pay a seedbox company they install all this stuff and manage it for you. All you do is add in your tracker credentials and tell it what you want to download.

Somewhere in the Wiki is says something along the lines of; "If you have a seedbox, don't just use that for seeding torrents. It's a completely regular server regardless".
I basically live by that principle now a days, and my "seedbox" has become such an integral part of my daily life.
After installing Docker, it opened up a whole new set of doors.
If anyone is reading this, and haven't already made the leap, take this as your chance to finally start utilizing your seedbox to the fullest.

This is a dedicated server, so I have full root access.
It is basically like renting a server from any other provider, just with the benefit that this one comes pre-configured with those juicy secret qbit configs, and is guaranteed to be located on the same racks as other seedboxes.
The company I'm renting from is basically a reseller, but I've checked with the real provider (LeaseWeb) and it seems that I'm getting it cheaper than if I bought directly from them.
>Do seedbox admins allow that?
The only rules they have, is that you're not allowed to run miners or Tor exit nodes on there.

You can follow tutorials, watch YouTube videos, etc and quickly get this stuff up and running. Skill level required: midwit. But lol. Lmao. How many of those guides are going to give you a lecture about exposing those ports to the internet, keeping your shit up to date, limiting your attack surface, etc? How much time have you spent speaking to self professed tech experts here on /g/? What are their attitudes towards such ideas? It's also fraud, like you're not legally allowed to scam people out of their money even if those people are trying to do something wrong.
