How are we going to pay the fine, bros?

LONDON — The provider of online message board 4chan has been fined £20,000 by the U.K.'s communications regulator Ofcom for failing to respond to requests for information about its compliance with the Online Safety Act.

Ofcom will also impose a daily penalty of £100, starting from Tuesday, for either 60 days or until 4chan provides it with the relevant information, whichever is sooner.

Suzanne Cater, Director of Enforcement at Ofcom, said: “Today sends a clear message that any service which flagrantly fails to engage with Ofcom and their duties under the Online Safety Act can expect to face robust enforcement action.

They haven't blocked Kiwifarms yet so

you have to remember, OfCom is just a company. Sure, they're a company under the employ of the UK Government, but they ultimately carry zero real legal authority to force people to do anything, they have to appeal to the UK Government for that. Not to defend the Loicense bs, but not even the BBC can just YOLO international media rights. They may have sold the programme, inclusive ALL rights (DVD, streaming, etc) in that territory to a foreign broadcaster. And I'd imagine it wasn't them responsible for the idea of region limiting DVDs either. I saf wouldn't be selling DVDs to dumb Burgers who'd then be too stupid to understand why Region 2's don't work for them and be demanding refuns.

I seriously doubt ISPs will comply immediately, they're hesitating to do it now for sites they didn't already have blocked like porn sites.

It may take like 8ish months, Ofcom is still under this impression that the Parliament will be extraditing US citizens based on their authority.

They didn't forget, this is another attempt to use the US' current weakness with a tinpot dictator to exert monetary and authoritative control over the United States.
Notice, they only started doing this when he was elected. FiveEyes, the spying program that is supposed to benefit only the US, works both ways. UK can spy on US Citizens and anyone in our country if there are not stopgaps and huge oversight in place to prevent them from rubber stamping any request. It's supposed to only work one way because our spying network is way, way, way, way bigger than the UK's ever was.

Or was, until pic related dismantled it and shut down the government. This entire OFcom bullshit is them thinking they can leverage this network to enforce UK law in the US using our own ineptitude at counterspying against us. Our only recourse is literally civil court which is toothless in comparison to a codified spy network that's unconstitutional anyway.

Ohio is threatening to sue many adult websites that refuse to comply with the newly passed age verification law or geo-block, which was signed into state legislation. Meaning someone could tip off the Ohio attorney general's office and tell them 4chan is not being compliant...because technically it is US law, while not federal, 4chan is still a US based company and must comply with state law requests or lawful orders. Meaning Ohio anons can realistically lose ISP access through a forced block or require ID for 4chan shit posting

You do realise they have no way of actually proving you're watching tv. All they can do is go around with a detector van, then send their goons to harass anyone who appears to be receiving a signal, or send you threatening letters with "fines" that would never hold up in court. They are not police and they do not have a Crown Court warrant. You are under no legal obligation to let them in, show them any equipment you have or explain what you're doing.
The worst they can do is ask the actual police to pay you a visit, but if the police answered every one of those calls they would all be working double shifts. By the time it escalates to issuing a warrant to search your house you will be older and wiser, realise tv is all slop and start looking for torrents of classic films instead.
