I'm kind of regretting majoring in CS. Not because of the subject, it's been fairly interesting and engaging, but because of the industry. This is my last semester, and the combination of my peers at college and looking at the job market is making me want to pivot and go into something else. I also have a mathematics degree. What should I do?

Meanwhile, the most high tech stuff is created by white men for the MIC and you can’t see it because it is classified top secret.

>I also have a mathematics degree.
Just lean into that, it really doesn't matter. I did 6 years in the Navy and left an O-3 with a clearance and I think that helped more than my degree (also math) in getting a job afterwards, but just saying you have a math degree gives people a warm fuzzy that allows them to trust you with work you'll learn while doing.

I genuinely don't know, but it would be a good idea to bring your coding skills up to snuff. I know that a lot of quants are very very good coders in addition to mathematicians.

Several reasons:
- Hardly anything to do outside your house
- The dating scene is nonexistent (I'm not interested in meeting brain-dead women at "church").
- Spend most of your time driving.
- Pay is not great.
- Rural towns are often hives for retarded people.

>infinity indians that clan up and conspire against you, generally autistic and hard to communicate/work with, so you will feel like an outsider with them
>tryhard autistic narcissitic asshole super dev types who will constantly try to one up you in programming knowledge
>managers and businessfags who have 0 understanding of how development works and will try to pile work on you

I recommend it to no one right now. Work from home is nice but nothing about this job does anything but frustrate me on a habitual basis, and I feel trapped.

cont.

without a doubt there was a time and a moment where this work was probably wonderful

back in the 90's/2000's it was common for companies to have a handful of devs doing lone wolf tooling work to help support the company. They were left to their own devices, considered wizards, and got to express full creative freedom building cool standalone scripts and apps. I got a brief taste of that early on, only time I've really enjoyed this shit work.

It started years before they raised to power. They weren't the cause of it, they were the symptom. Enshitification happened because of investors pressuring companies to prioritize short term profits over user satisfaction. It's not a result of some conspiracy to replace smart engineers with retarded engineers who apparently can't write code without hostile always online, walled garden, vendor locking solutions. They are here because (((investors))) want profits which customers are no longer willing or able to provide => production cost must be lowered.

As others have said the market for fresh graduates is generally fucked. The way I see it you can either double down on education and try to specialize in something important (solar industry is booming and understaffed from what I've read) or try to find anything decent outside of your country.
I live in Germoney and my government will probably try to force me into fighting vladimirs in the near future, so honestly moving abroad seems inevitable anyway.
