FAQ:
>How do I activate Windows?
HWID2 generates and registers a permanent legitimate license on MS's activation servers
github.com/massgravel/Microsoft-Activation-Scripts
Usage: paste this into Powershell, run.
irm https://get.activated.win | iex
>and Office?
Same link, select Ohook option
You can also use Office.com if your needs are very minimal
or try OnlyOffice/LibreOffice and set it to save in MSOffice file formats

I've been daily driving Windows 7 since day one with no issues until very recently. My current computer was built in 2019; my SSD is 256gb. My friend gave me a 1tb SSD and I intend to dual boot Windows 11 using an ISO from the op post (unless someone has a better idea), but I would like to still keep 7 as my main OS. I'm not sure which OSes to put on which drives, or how to do any backups. I have an external drive on which I install programs and games and such, which I would like to work with both systems if possible. What's the best setup to have in this scenario?
I'm pretty tech illiterate beyond setting this stuff up, and knowing to disable internet during installation. The only immediate hurdles I can think of are setting up my drawing tablet which I sometimes use as a second monitor, and dealing with my 25 year old midi synthesizer.
Anonymous No.106897309 [Report] >>106897621
>>106897229
My guess is that the easiest method for you would be to install win11 with your main drive unplugged (so it won't touch your existing boot manager) and then go into your BIOS settings to set whatever order you want.
>which I would like to work with both systems if possible.
You will have to do some work if you want installed programs to show in start menu, etc. for both installs but nothing is stopping you from using the files and running programs on the drive.

I don't have a boot manager that I'm aware of, unless it's some thing that doesn't show up since I only boot one OS. Thanks for the tip though!
I'm mainly just wondering if I should put both on the new drive, or just 11. I don't really know how long my old SSD will last, but it seems to be fine. I'm aware I'll need to do some customizing to have all my crap show up on 11, but I mostly just want to use it for games and programs that no longer work on 7.

Just buy external backup drives. Any time you're about to reformat put anything that's on your c drive you want to keep on the backup drive, name the file "backup" with the date or something like that.
I keep downloads in a downloads folder, documents in a documents folder, stuff that was on my desktop in a desktop folder, etc etc.
If you are also using internal backup drives, always unplug them when you're reformatting then plug them back in with the OS is cleanly installed.

>Could I not just clone it to a new partition on the new drive?
You could, you would just have to be careful with your bootloaders because I assume your Win7 install will be BIOS but a standard Win11 install is UEFI and you can't mix the two on the same drive.

It is certainly possible to get the two on a single drive but first you should check if your Win7 install is BIOS or UEFI, then make sure to install Win11 matching (format your install USB to match, its not an option during install) and then maybe still have to reinstall your Win7 bootloader if the Win11 install automatically overwrites it.

Tried to manual update just 20secs ago and it worked fine. Again nothing was downloaded but the message that was displayed was the correct one.

Ugh why are there two threads? Anyway..

Frens, im having issues installing W10 or W11 LTSC Iot on my Thinkpad that i just bought for 100 $. Basically when i try a clean install it reaches the account creation setting, i want a local one so i just enter my name, password and three security questions. Then it tells me "Something went wrong" with no further explanation. I tried this with W10 and W11 both with the same outcome. What am I doing wrong?

You should install 10 IoT LTSC and use default options with rufus, it does not ask for an account.

the usual OP has autism and split the thread when someone else made one before him because he was late

Very weird issue, have you tried installing Home/Pro? I doubt it's a LTSC problem but it may as well be. As the other anon says, if you used rufus and modified it to not ask for an online account, it could cause conflict in LTSC because it werks a bit differently.

The default option is having everything ticked right? I tried that at first and its the same issue. I thought maybe its a region issue but even when selecting the keyboard as default English (US) the problem prevails. Something must be wrong with the hardware, does Secure Boot need to be enabled? Its disabled.

what framework to make good looking windows 11 desktop apps, quickly?
winui?
python shit, QT
react native?
electron?
tauri?
mainly looking for aesthetics, then ease of development.
also if microsoft have their own winui, why are they using react native?

>no reason why he shouldn't upgrade to Enterprise anyway
Some programs detect the edition and if they see you're in enterprise you are redirected to different payment tiers.
