No, he was trying to install Steam. It was part POP for that fuck up and part Linus for being retarded and not reading the output message/warnings before typing "YES, DO AS I SAY!"

It's like typing in "rm -rf / --no-preserve-root" with a protection going "are you REALLY sure you want to do that? type 'yes, I'm a retard'" and then typing 'YES, I'M A RETARD!" and wondering why your system was nuked.

>He was named after Linus Pauling, the Nobel Prize–winning American chemist. He was diagnosed with ADHD as a child.
>Linus Carl Pauling was an American chemist and peace activist. He published more than 1,200 papers and books, of which about 850 dealt with scientific topics. New Scientist called him one of the 20 greatest scientists of all time. For his scientific work, Pauling was awarded the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1954. For his peace activism, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1962. He is one of five people to have won more than one Nobel Prize. Of these, he is the only person to have been awarded two unshared Nobel Prizes, and one of two people to be awarded Nobel Prizes in different fields, the other being Marie Skłodowska-Curie.
>Pauling was one of the founders of the fields of quantum chemistry and molecular biology.

The worst thing about otherwise famed scientist Linus Pauling is that he is to be blamed for spreading the myth that Vitamin C can help prevent or cure the flu, which many Baby Boomers still believe, since they never quite understood the difference between scurvy and the flu.
