Guys I am new to this I just read the rentry guide, downloaded comfyUI, WAI-illustrious-SDXL and the custom node to auto complete tags, did a gen that generated a nice tummy but I am scared of all those custom node security issues warnings.
I want to try inpainting, edit some anime stills and change characters or do some minor tweaks, but I am scared of those custom nodes for the inpainting/posing.
Is it possible to set up a VM on windows to run comfyUI with full gpu passthrough?

I used Regional Prompter at .5 base with 4 regions of 256 by 576 each. You can tell I didn't get all the prompts, I had to fix Ami's hair and I had to horizontally flip Mami's head then impaint both a few times to blend them in.

An extension that randomizes regional prompting to add more variety to scene compositions. Instead of getting the same framing every time, it would randomly place characters in different positions (far left, far right, center)
Vary the camera distance (close up shots vs. distant shots)
Generate more diverse compositions automatically
Basically, something that shuffles the composition parameters each gen so you don't have to manually adjust positioning every time. Would make batch generations way more interesting.

Part of the interface lets you set up "styles" you can switch between. A style is basically load model + k-sampler + vae + clip skip + multi-lora + prompt prepend and append. You can also use custom workflows in Krita if you need more stuff, but the idea is to use Krita as the interface and Comfy as the backend.

Once you get used to it it's very hard to go back to noodles. Having layers and a clone brush makes fixing and changing gens so much easier. But how much that appeals to you will depend on how you like to gen. Comfy noodles encourage automation, whereas Krita encourages doing more manual work per piece.

I haven't used that feature desu. It's much easier to just make a selection, change the prompt, then use Refine (i.e. Generate with less than 100% strength) or Live mode to make changes. Then add the change on a new layer and erase the bits you don't want. And if the changed part is too discordant with the rest of the image, blend everything with a low % Live mode pass (remember to change the seed).

Pretty much all anime models kinda suck at weapons.
You should pretty much expect to do couple of inpaints to make guns make sense.
"Photos" in the dataset have zero influence on NoobAI's capability to gen guns.
You also should be aware that models perform worse when inferenced at resolutions below what they're trained on.

Structural consistency kinda appears in much larger, slower models. Like mobile number pads, calendars, clock faces and so on.
FLUX was pretty remarkable for this, haven't seen that kind of consistency in comparable fatass models like Qwen.
SDXL and other "small" models aren't able to generate these sorts of complex, structured objects in sensible ways.
Guns are a natural extension of the same idea, but you can simplify it down into anything that has various interacting parts.

Touhou has a massive community, probably one of the biggest in anime and gaming, so that could be his niche. But I agree, it feels kind of dystopian when you monetize something you enjoyed and turn it into just another transaction. We also shouldn't forget that checkpoint training has some really weak links in tag capture models. Take WD Tagger, for example, to properly capture an entire image, you need multiple crops: the general image, a closeup of the character's face for expression tags, another of the hands if they're holding something or performing an action, and then one of the background. In other words, properly tagging a single image requires multiple passes, a process that gets skipped during bulk tagging. And that's when I suspect part of the hands and feet problem comes from this weak link in the chain of peripheral models.

On the Language Gap Problem:
We have a fundamental language barrier. We don't really know what language the model actually uses internally. We know it's trained on DanBooru tags, but when I investigated this, I extracted the unique tag count from Danbooru, there's roughly 1 million distinct tokens according to Gemini.
My point is this: To communicate effectively with SDXL, we need an LLM that can properly reason and translate between human language ,with all its synonyms and variations, and the specific Booru tagging language that SDXL understands. Basically, we need a translation layer, an LLM with a database of those 1 million Booru tags that acts as a bridge between natural human tags, the thesaurus of how we actually describe things and the precise Booru syntax the model was trained on.
