Why is everyone crying about windows 10?
My first OS was Windows XP and I used that PC for many years, never updated it once, it came with drivers needed for work, later I got a W7 machine, same thing, never updated it and used it until 2018, when I got a Ryzen PC so I had to install W10 on it, I downloaded the first version of piratebay and installed it on my USB drive, and installed it on my PC. Worked well until I swapped it for Arch Linux because my AMD card had severe issues on W10. But here we are I did the same, downloaded some random W10 from piratebay and installed it here, all properly setup, no updates no crap on it installed it works, no edge nothing, just a calculator kek. I will never update it as there is no point to do so. My PC is behind my firewall, nothing can go through that, not even my ISP so even if it was insecure nobody will be able to exploit it. W10 will die when no software works on it and by then I will probably install Arch Linux again. We still have a decade or so to use W10, why are you all crying about having to update to W11?

Don't like debilian, it's too complicated to install and use, Arch is a superior option for me, but W10 still performs much better than any DE on GNU+Linux.

Because every OS after Windows 7 (i.e. Vista SP3) has been exponentially worse than its predecessor.

Aren't you a cute widdle baby? My first Windows was Windows 3.0 on a black & white Toshiba Satellite 80286 machine. It was an inch and a half thick. Good times!

I remember HIMEM and throwing the /386 switch for 386 enhanced mode when I was upgraded to a Tostiba 80386 machine with a color screen and Windows for Workgroups 3.11. Thanks mom!

You will use Linux. Prepare your dualboot setup (for now). No sane person will switch to Win11, not even LTSC.
The Win10 LTSC support until 2032 is just cope.
I think the most popular kernel malware games will support winshit10 for ~2-4 years longer.
Winshit12 soon(tm) fully loaded copilot x winshit12 is out and your mandatory microshit account will be your least problem.
Also, you will miss out on gayming features for Directx12, direct storage... and depending on your hardware also driver support. Adobe is already dropping most of their software support for winshit10, AAPL music as well (lol).
>Now take the red pill, this is your last warning. Windows 10 (ltsc) is the last "good" "OS" from M$. 11 is garbage and 12 will be ... enjoy 1-4 years of LTSC and get familar with loonix. bye anon.

Literally zero reason to disable updates on LTSC. You only get one a month and it takes like 5 mins to install.

Why is systemd bad again?
Anonymous No.106907812 [Report] >>106911524
>>106907648
Overcomplicated solution to a problem that doesn't exist and lock in to the systemd ecosystem which forces on you shit that you don't need as a hard dependency. It made many things in linux harder for no reason. Desktop system doesn't need overengineered enterprise level abstractions by architecture astronauts. Even sysvinit wasn't that bad. If your system needs to start dozens of interdependent services it means it's overdone. list of core linux components to boot and start a working system:
- boot manager
- kernel image
- initrd (optional)
- fstab
- init
services:
- audio
- input
- network
- wifi (optional)
- dhcp (optional)
- logging
- cron (optional)
- ssh (optional)
- nfs (likely even more optional)
- dovecot, sendmail (likely even more optional)

even listing optional there are not many services. Even without async there is no problem booting a system fast and when system is booted it will run for hours. Rc.d based init always worked for me. I don't want abstract shit, I want concrete shit that only does what it needs to do and nothing more.

>Why?
Because it was the last somewhat usable one.

Using Win95 back in the days.
98 comes. It sucks, it's even more unstable than 95, but at the end of its life it's somewhat usable.
XP comes. It sucks, it's very heavy, but it's somewhat usable, and at the end of its life it's even quite good.
7 comes. It sucks, it looks like a toy for toddlers, a few things are retarded but fixable, but it's somewhat usable, and at the end of its life it's even quite good.
10 comes. It sucks, it's very very heavy, really very very very heavy, a lot of things are retarded, it's literally a spyware at this point, but it's somewhat usable.
11 comes. It's just unusable, and it keeps getting worse and worse every year.

Now Windows is shit. Linux is shit. MacOS is shit. Computers used to be cool and exciting, now using any computer feels like having to drink diarrhea. And there is no solution, the situation can only get worse.

Download an official ISO from Microsoft
Verify the checksum to make sure the ISO has not been tempered with
Use an opensource tool like Massgrave to activate it

Want to know something I have noticed after switching to windows 10 iot ltsc? The lamp with a cheap led bulb that is sharing a circuit with my machine doesn't flicker anymore...
It's an 8350 cpu, so very power hungry, and there were background tasks making the led bulb give a subtle flicker at random times, I confirmed a long time ago it was the computer because the flicker stopped when the computer was off.
Some sort of telemetry bullshit was putting high on/off load on my cpu for sometimes a couple hours at a time. Since switching to iot ltsc I don't see it happening anymore.

It literally is setup and forget. But enjoy your daily pacman update and occasional "mom, cancel my meetings, something broke on my arch". I literally update once a few months and nothing ever breaks, because there is nothing to break. Slackware have slack in the name for a reason.
