they increased it to 32kB with Excavator but halved the L2

Just stop writing code that misses the cache, bro.

But what is the point of having same size L2 and L3 cache?

Buldozer was fine, used OCed fx 8350 for years before switching to ryzen.

Despite being a piece of shit, Bulldozer had way cooler visual design and box art.

That didn't happen, you fucking goober. AMD settled with Tony Dicky(/g/ posting pathological liar) so they wouldn't have to keep paying their legal team to waste time on something dumb. There is no concrete definition of a core.

they had a good strategie. Excavator was great design, they could have competed in the desktop market several years before zen release. But it ended up on the chopping block for them to go all in on Zen. In hindsight it was the right call

Do you have any motherboard and processor that are ideal for an anti-gaming PC?

I want a processor and motherboard that's useless for gaming and the image of someone who hates PC gaming.

fm2
They were bad (but at least were the cheapest thing you could buy new) then, and they're genuinely useless now for anything that isn't just firefox, and even that is questionable in 2025

PhII didn't scale that well beyond 4 cores and the L3 cache was a meme for most tasks. Not a bad microarch but it was core 2+ tier and it had barely improved since the first Athlon. Good for the 2007-2009 period but AMD fab was always late.

if you think about it a shared FPU is better. instead of having 2 separate 256 bit FPUs with 2 execution ports each why not share one 256 bit FPU with 4 execution ports.
the queues will have to be larger so it'd actually the more area intensive approach
in an all SIMD workload throughput is identical.
but the advantage is that if thread A is using SIMD instructions but thread B isn't then thread A has twice the throughout available
which is the idea with Zen 5 SMT on huge fucking 512 bit FPU with twice the load store bandwidth of the prior gen

AM1
it has igpu that can't run any games

and it's using different architecture so 4 core is true 4 core
>no shared FPU
>no shared front end
Athlon 5350 (4 core) should be same performance as FX 8350 (4 core)

If you want something that is useless for gaming you can get a Chinese GPU like the Moore Threads.
They don't have gaming drivers.
The only thing that I know has MUSA support (their CUDA) is Ollama.

AM4 server motherboard without full size 16x PCI-E slot, even better if they only have 8x, 4x and 1x slots that doesent have the slot in the connector so you can still use a 16x card in them.
Anonymous No.106911420 [Report]
>>106911384
It has about exactly half the performance while drawing half the power per core

Most of it was probably turned in for scrap by this point. I think it was 2018 I bought a pallet of unopened gigabyte mobos + 70ish a8 7600s for maybe $600, and they were literally impossible to sell even then.
Have never seen another half-way modern platform considered so worthless

I'd say early Socket 775. They can have as much memory as 8GB but limited to Prescott CPU's. It could run old games tho (which I personally enjoy)

I was using P3 650 when AMD Phenom was released. Think about it.

I was forced to replace it only because shit started to stutter while playing new video files i downloaded from torrent
