It still has no decent alternatives. Mac is somewhat usable but the software limitation is noticeable by a fair share of people, and can officially be used only on overpriced apple hardware. Windows 10 actually offered new shit, it just had a lot of bitching about the tracking (newsflash, put up some firewalls rules in your router and you have it fixed). Once you customized the Start Menu, it was working fine, even if it looked worse due to no Aero.

Windows 11 is actively developed backwards for the sake of developing it. They rewrote the entire taskbar code in Rust and then took years to implement back everything the old one could do, except that any tool you use to customize the taskbar is now broken (for ex 7 Tray Tools). Just the other day they broke Localhost. How the fuck do you break Localhost even?
I mean maybe after 5 years of updates it will be able to do everything that Win10 (and Win7) can do, but by then you'll be updating to Win12 instead.

If not though, even just werks distros are not friendly enough for your average person, assuming that they can even install it at the first place. You still have very little decent programs, installing everything requires internet connection, and at some point you will need to use terminal to fix something, even to do something as trivial as installing proprietary codecs, because most regular distros patent-trolled themself nowadays and force users to fiddle around it because muh law. On Windows on the other hand, at least good old one, everything has nice installer, is stable and its first class citizen when it comes to piracy.

it absolutely is. You can have all sorts of local installers that come bundled with all its dependencies just fine, same goes for cracked software. You can essentially recreate your entire workflow locally and offline from usb stick. This is impossible on troonix, since all sorts of package managers, old and new ones, require you to download dependencies from repositories (someone else's computer). Having offline .deb or .rpm file is not going to help either because they were never meant to be used like this and you repositories might break over time, which needs an internet connection to fix. AppImages that are supposed to be portable still require fuse that must be downloaded from the internet and some distors like Ubuntu are openly hostile to it.
