The issues with ROCm were the shitty firmware and GPU driver. It was never the framework that was an issue, it was the things he specifically couldn't fix himself because the cards firmware isn't open. That's why he tried so hard to push them to make the firmware open but of course they were never going to do that (Even if they might have plans for the future) and just kept stringing him along.
