No one said that, if anything people complain that KDE plasma is bloated. I remember they promised that Plasma 6 will be better optimized but when i updated ram usage went up for no reason at all. So fuck them im now on GTK.

only dumb niggers say Qt is slow and shitty.
it's an excellent framework whose only downside is the continued use of non-std types because of legacy; and even then it's fairly simple to cast back and forth.

it is substantially more than just "gui"
it's an entire application programming paradigm with supporting multi-OS, networking, threading, IO, multi-lingual, industrial, and graphical support components
further, the "gui" portion is also excellent at creating usable cross platform UIs with default or totally customized widget styling.
I regularly use Qt in high performance compute and have no issues with its built-in "websockets" which is just a special-case http socket

No, KDE with qt only apps looks decent, you can even theme it to your liking. There is also a built in theming for gtk3 apps, so they don't look completely ass. It's just that Flathub Apps are mostly gtk/libadwaita and it's pissing me off...

Qt is not slow if you use it right. The problem is that a lot of applications are just GTK applications roughly ported to Qt and still use GTK paradigms.

Converting GLib's "mainloop" system to Qt's event processing system is a pretty big source of performance issues.

That would be because QT is a tool and the tool can't force the coder to not write bad code

afaik kde has wayland libs as a hard dependency. not as a build option, mandatory. you're able to only use x11 session, but your kde is always going to be able to hop on the wayland train - regardless of what you wish.

Didnt want to make a thread.
I want to switch from Debian to Arch, so im tinkering around with a few distros in Virtualbox. My Debian (native) is still on Plasma 5, all the distros im trying are P6 and i cant figure out how to get the fucking taskbar to autohide and come back at mouseover. Im starting to think its a problem with Vbox but im not going to wipe Debian just to check for this little thing. Any expiriences with this?

Anything and everything? There are so many alternatives for desktop environments/windows managers that no one can really recommend anything meaningfully without context on what are YOU actually looking for and what do you like, even if that answer is Windows or MacOS.
But if you really have zero idea, then KDE is the best starting point since it functions the most like Windows, which I'd assume you have experience with.

Because all the bloated Qt shit is loaded when you start it up and is already resident in memory (all the shared libraries and shit) so now that it's there it's quick enough to use. Also mostly just everything else is more shit than the shit that KDE is.
