Is there *any* distribution that majority of /g/ agrees is good?

That's what I plan to switch to once I have enough knowledge on Linux commands and how Linux works.

I don't think Gentoo is a good choice for absolute noobs but once you've had a year or two of experience it's the other way around, installing and using Gentoo as a daily driver will make you knowledgeable real fast on GNU+Linux especially if you didn't know much beforehand. Use it and read the wiki, that's how I learned.

Distros are like colors, or flavors of candies, it's impossible to make a distro that everybody will like, there has to be some people who won't like, even if just a few. That's a good thing, it shows that some people still are able to have their own point of view on stuff.
There are also frustrated people in here who just shit on everything, even things they don't know, never tried, and maybe even things they actually do like, just because they are trolls.

I suppose the most popular one must be Mint.

Omarchy has been getting pretty popular.

linux isn't about one size fits all solutions. if that's what you're looking for, then buy a mac or a chromebook.

the majority will split between Debian and Arch, from then Fedora and linux mint, it all depends on what kind of user you are and what kind of needs you have.

Only ubuntu is bad, even manjaro is decent.
However, there are several small advantages and disadvantages of every distro and they cause endless wars.

x86 macs are excellent linux machines.
They're pretty standard so linux people end up making em just werks.

Ubuntu is mad alright. It's basically just an even more handholdy version of Debian but with a lot more support from proprietary software because of all the AI fuckers using it.

this is called corporate stealth marketing, because they cannot tolerate a space that openly shits on windows / macos.

windows refugees are fedora/mint pilled
people who can rtfm but dont want to bother too much choose either debian stable (if they're fine with flatpaking or using only debian repos with "outdated" software) or arch/void (if they dont mind updooting constantly)
opensuse attracts people in between previous two groups
nixos and guixos with nonguix are for people who want a declarative system at the cost of adding a layer of abstraction on a system level
gentoo is the most user friendly source based distro (and a total meme)
fsf distros are for freedom pilled autists
rest are for those who know what they're doing (or think that they know this, i.e. tinker trannies) or these distros are 1 day butterflies

Ubuntu is bloated, slow, clunky, unpolished garbage.
Debian is outdated, unpolished garbage.
Arch is unstable.
Fedora is the only way on Linux but even then you should use it only if you have a specific use case for it. Otherwise, use MacOS or Windows if you can't get a Mac.
Debian is fine for servers.
Anonymous No.106926094 [Report]
Install Gentoo.
>>106923357
You have it backwards.
You will fill your knowledge gaps by installing Gentoo.
"I won't cook until I'm good at cooking" makes no sense. Terrible analogy but same thing really.

the disagreement is a feature, not a bug
you get to pick a distro that fits your needs and preferences instead of having to accept what some fag considers to be the best one-size-fits-all solutions

Mint is love. Default Cinnamon out of the box doesn't look like shit, and just runs.

Yes, I am Linux nub.

If Linux has a usecase for servers, then the usecase for desktop is better compatibility with servers.
