I'm basically going to stop carrying a phone. This was the last good phone, but even Sony appears to have given up on open source and custom roms as of two generations ago. The last good phones were Xperia 1/5/10 mark V. There's no reason to bother with any other phones since others don't have fundamental features I need like headphone jack or microsd card.

I think this is an American-exclusive problem. In EU nobody uses SMS and everyone is on either WhatsApp, Viber, Telegram, Signal or Facebook Messenger. And yes, most people have at least 2 of these installed. And yes, it's still more convenient than SMS.

Any advice for fixing chips on the side/back caused by some faggot bumpinginto you and a drop of a brand new phone on the fucking pavement? I'm lucky it didn't do more damage or hurt the screens but shit, its infuriating. its just a couple of nicks between the back plate and the side edge (i don't think its on the back plate so replacing it wont help?) but they feel kind of sharp/abrasive. Some have talked about using some sort of filler or sanding it down gently, but these are fucking TINY visually and I'm not sure what sort of compound works with this and if it depends on the phone model and finish. Hallo Phone Anons,

I want a phone to use google maps, maybe sometimes spotify (I'm willing to switch to non phone solutions), telephone. I want to get rid of social media. I have a camera, which is why I don't need an integrated one.

What do? I like the gimmicky flip phones and I don't care about min / maxing specs. Like a modern nokia , blackberry or something like that would be cool. Obviously I don't want something endlessly old, my goal is to be as free from the common apps as possible, while maintaining the availability of standard apps like maps (which I use constantly). I have a Xiaomi at the moment and it sometimes randomly installs apps.

Get some tiny chink phone. Typing and watching content on screens under 4.5 inches is annoying so you'll stay away from social media. Just don't get something with utterly shit specs and you'll be fine, since google maps requires at least a somewhat competent rendering speed for the UI to be responsive.

Thoughts on Realme?

The GT 7 looks like a great contender against the Poco F7 or OnePlus 13R. I see one for €400.

Only thing holding me back is the relative unknown brand.. all the reviews on youtube are from Indians so I assume there's a big market over there, but nobody in Europe knows about Realme.

Are they legit? Anyone have experience with Realme phones?

Yo guys its been years since I posted here but I have the following question: I need a tablet with good camera on the back I can use for stealth recordings . (why? See below as the constrains sorta matter)

I'm doing a math major but my university sucks dick and they never release the slides in time or transcripts of the lectures. While I attend them ofc since I'm too much of a brainlet to do it without visiting them all together . Now I can type off everything in LaTeX in realtime using my snippets but then I sort of can't pay attention super well to what's being said while typing it off . Sometimes I can't read a symbol or such and it would be useful to be able to re-listen to that part later and based on what the prof said figure out the character

I'm allowed to take pictures but videos with sound aren't allowed pictures I just take with my pixel but I want recordings.


Now if I place my phone into some sort of holder to point it onto the blackboard I may get in trouble as it looks a little odd and I was being called out when I brought a small tripod to place on my desk .

Now if however I put a tablet on my table and pretend to use it as a screen it would be OK. It can record in the background as android offers apps for this idk about IOS but android has apps where you can pretend that the app is let's say calculator but actually it records so when accused they see nothing .

Please give me things available in Europe , as I'm a student I'm also a poorfag thus ideally I'd buy it used I don't mind it having scratches in the screen or shit I merely want to use it as a camera and maybe actually to draw things I can't express quickly in LaTeX . I hope you guys get my use case.

Please note that sometimes I need to record from the back of the lecture hall which I can't read with my bare eyes unless I squeeze them hard and lean forward . got my eyes tested and doc said (forgot num) but was slightly below the smallest strength glasses are issued for

Note that what matters most to me is being able to capture at a distance . maybe like 50M at max with relatively small font. Pixel 7 can capture it it could be 30% less zoom than pixel 7 I don't give 0 fuckd about framerate like 10FPS is enough. Ideally I'd like a computer(as I'm x86 and can run Linux )/ desu but my low budget makes that harder ... And it seems like most portables are ARM and android ,....
